About this deal

I previously tested the h100i Elite with Intel's i9-12900K, but I haven't yet had the time to test any Corsair products with Raptor Lake. The Liquid Freezer II Series features an all-new, in-house developed PWM-controlled pump with a copper base, improved efficiency, low power usage and quiet operation. This means it consumes less power and produces less noise, even with its additional fan for VRM cooling.

A lot of AIOs market their pretty coloured fans and lovely pump block display but don't compete where it matters most, cooling, and this is where the ALF 2 shines brightly and quietly. The box doesn't come with instructions but they have a youtube channel where you can find some "basic" videos (albeit without showing you the screws being used at each step. I use one for my 5800X, getting approximate 10-15C lower temps at max compared to my previous NZXT Kraken X72. If you’re not the type who cares about a lot of RGB LEDs, then a lot of money can be saved by going with Arctic’s superior cooling solution.

Leaving the radiator are two closely mounted fibre-reinforced, EPDM tubes that measure in at 450mm long. months now I use the liquid freezer II 240 with paste mx-4 and the 5600x has not exceeded 70 degrees Celsius although I have it at 4. In general, liquid coolers outlive the usable life of the system, and potentially two systems, but those that fail do so in a much more visible or catastrophic fashion.

Unlike most pumps from our competitors, which run at full load even when idle, our pump clocks down consuming less power and producing less noise if no cooling is needed, even with its additional fan for VRM cooling. This doesn’t move the needle much for Arctic, which seems to top-out in its efficiency at around 1200RPM rather than its maximum 1600RPM.

As discussed in two recent cooler videos we did, that’s because the heat load isn’t enough and the gap between coolers begins to shrink. The fan is PWM-controlled and can cool your voltage converters and the socket area almost inaudibly by up to 15 °C especially in overclocking scenarios, with insufficient VRM cooling or in cases with low airflow, and thus allows continuous high load. Small fans have the reputation of being particularly loud and not very durable; that’s why we set out to develop a quiet, sturdy diagonal fan especially for the Liquid Freezer II.The instructions are sparse and it can take some time to mount the pump on the CPU as the AM4 backplate is not held on once.
