About this deal

Acrylic drills well with a drill press, stepping up the diameter to the finished size (extra careful if drilling near an edge) Any melted swarf collar can be removed by hand using a rotary deburrer. Countersinking also works well in a drill press by using a multi-flute countersink. Scratches may easily be removed by polishing or by heating the surface of the material.

Made to measure acrylic is ideal for a wide variety of purposes around the home. Clear plastic sheets made from acrylic are exceptionally hard wearing yet very easy to handle – making them also ideal for outdoor use. You should use a clear Perspex® screen to create a barrier between people to support social distancing regulations to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This could be counter surfaces in retail; office desks; pub screens for bars; reception desk shields; nail or beauty bars; cough shields; sneeze guards, or to separate people who would otherwise need to be in close proximity. Furthermore, polycarbonate can be coated with scratch and UV-resistant coatings. This provides additional protection and longevity – perfect for budget conscious boat owners. Acrylic sheet is a strong and lightweight material. It has a density less than half that of glass. It also has good impact strength, higher than both glass and styrene. Its UV and environmental stability is superior to most other plastics such as styrene and polyethylene, and Acrylic sheets are often the material of choice for outdoor applications. Acrylic sheets are noted for their exceptional clarity and optical properties. Acrylics are widely used in lighting fixtures because they are slow-burning or even self-extinguishing.This screen comes with a slot cutout, which can be further customised by adding a note to the additional instructions Calligraphy inks are also available waterproof or water soluble. Dip pens can be used with either while fountain pens are best used with water soluble ink to avoid the ink drying and clogging the pen. Traditional calligraphy inks are more opaque than drawing inks.

We already sell freestanding clear Perspex® screens both with and without cutouts depending on what you require.

Our freestanding perspex office partition is a floor standing solution that is the ideal for use in offices and businesses where people work in close proximity. They offer a highly protective barrier that is manufactured from easy to clean, wipeable surfaces that can be easily sanitised to ensure the safety of employees. Using our popular cable displays system of cables and clamps, a sheet of clear perspex is suspended between staff and customers. The height can easily be adjusted so that there is a gap at the bottom ideal for nail bars etc. Our hanging perspex sneeze screen is a cost-effective solution, as they can be suspended from most types of ceiling. Easy to hang protection screens which don’t take up counter space. Inks formulated for drawing, painting or calligraphy are usually very fluid (somewhere between milk and water in consistency) and vary in transparency, lightfastness and water solubility. Drawing inks can be pigment or dye based – generally dye based inks are less lightfast than those made with pigment, and may fade with prolonged exposure to sunlight. Waterproof drawing inks tend to be made with pigment and shellac binder (a resin secreted by the lac bug) or an acrylic emulsion, and can be diluted with water while wet. Rewettable water soluble inks offer an open working time, and are suitable for use with refillable fountain pens. There are also permanent water soluble inks than can be diluted in water but once dry can not be rewetted, which are usually better suited to brush or dip pen work. Social distancing screens are popular with hairdressers, supermarkets, reception areas, offices, schools, and leisure centres and we've been able to work with hundreds of these types of workplaces over the last few months to provide them with screens to help them reopen as safely as possible.

While watercolour from a tube is usually diluted a little with water prior to application, ink is more frequently applied neat. You can easily remove scratches from mirrors with a microfibre cloth and a high-quality polish. Following the instructions on the polish, the scratches will be removed using small circular motions. How can I cut acrylic sheets? Additional extras you may wish to invest in might be blotting paper (if using a pen), a ceramic palette and a water pot. Lithography requires a very thin layer of ink, and so consequently lithographic ink is highly pigmented, with a relatively stiff oil binder that will not squeeze out of place when pressure is applied to make an impression. Relief ink has been known to be used in place of especially formulated lithographic ink in the past, but it’s key that a lot less ink is used than in relief printing to maintain control over the process. Because lithography works on the principle that oil and water do not mix, it is important to not use water-washable printmaking inks for lithography, as the water/gum arabic solution applied to the plate during the inking up process will dilute the ink you apply to the stone. This will make it possible for ink to adhere to the whole picture plane, when the process requires some degree of oil repelling so that oil only adheres on the image of your print.
