About this deal

The main protagonists, Amy Tucker and Ryan, are flawed and each dealing with heavy things that not many their age deal with. After spending nearly 10 years writing, editing, and dreaming, Christopher Parker is making his authorial debut with a page-turning book flowing with love, suspense, mystery, and whimsy. He painted his most famous work, Guernica (1937), in response to the Spanish Civil War; the totemic grisaille canvas remains a definitive work of anti-war art. I loved the relationship between Amy and Ryan, as well as the ones that they each had with their fathers and their growth that occurred throughout the book. This is a real page turner full to the brim with twists and turns that it keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Amy Tucker is only visiting for the night and has no plans to get caught up in the hysteria, but that changes when she meets Ryan, the loyal, hard-working son of a ranch owner who lives on the outskirts of town. One of the main attractions in Seabrook is a lighthouse that has been broken for years, explained away through tales of hauntings of local spirits. Thank you to NetGalley and Beacon Press for a free advanced review copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.Ryan and Amy make Seabrook come alive but I do wish that the author had not used the cliched dialogues between them that suddenly brings home the fact that is fiction and not real.

I would like to thank NetGalley and Beacon Press Limited for giving me the honour of reading an digital ARC of this book!

I decided to label the book young adult because of the sweet romance that develops between these two main characters. I finished this book in less than 24 hours and will be pressing it into the hands of everyone I know. You know I hate to give you laundry lists of wants, but there are so many who need so much and so few who can carry the burden of taking care of the world, that I feel like I have to. In this debut novel by Christopher Parker, a girl named Amy and her father head to the strange town of Seabrook.

The indefatigable artist has been the subject of exhibitions at the world’s most prestigious institutions, from the Museum of Modern Art and Centre Pompidou to the Stedelijk Museum and Tate Modern. Characters within a story are complex non-physical objects and even worse they start doing things all on their own! We regularly collaborate with architects and interior designers to find artwork that integrates perfectly with their projects.

I’m glad I did, because this haunting, hopeful story was just what I needed this fall, and while it’s not really scary, it has enough supernatural touches that it is perfect for a rainy-day read… especially in October. The Lighthouse" started with just a fragment of an idea and not much else, and I gave myself three months to see how far I could get trying to turn that idea into a novel. It has consumed all of me in the most wonderful and delightful ways a person could feel (I have never ever used the word delightful so……that speaks volumes (no pun intended……until I decided to leave said pun alone.
