Most butterflies prefer to feed on nectar, but others will feed on the juices of rotting fruit or animal dung. We only use native British species, so the adult ladybirds / butterflies can then be released in your garden. The metamorphosis with the numerous transformations from caterpillar to butterfly is very impressing for children as well as adults. I have put together a range of care guides which should tell everything you need to know, more guides and information will be added over time.

They can stay as caterpillars for up to 2 weeks, but normally 7 days depending on temperature – 24c/76f is ideal.The caterpillars are usually available from the end of February to Mid September (exact dates are dependent on weather). As soon as you have purchased the caterpillars, we will send them out in a well-packed caterpillar cup. INSTRUCTIONS ARE NOT SENT WITH EACH SPECIES, you need to acquire basic skills and this book is a simple way to learn them.
