About this deal

This was probably one of the few series that I hadn't read and I was rather excited to get deep into it. Brief Summary by Robert Houghton: When Jo, Bessie and Fanny leap over a ditch near their new house in the country, they find themselves in an Enchanted Wood where trees whisper their secrets and magic is everywhere. The Magic Faraway Tree: A Christmas Adventure by Jacqueline Wilson published in October 2023, continues the story of Milo, Mia and Birdy from Wilson's earlier book. Connie, a spoilt and stuck-up girl, comes to stay for the summer with the three children while her mother is sick. The rabbits that helped the kids back onto the tree wish to descend as well but no one has any of the sweet stuff.

One of my all-time favourite authors when I was young, this stories never failed to keep me entertained and build a foundation in english. In 1997, stories from the novels were adapted into animated ten-minute episodes for the TV series Enid Blyton's Enchanted Lands. Jo, Bessie and Fanny, who should be awarded medals for sheer courage in the face of height, eventually reach the top of the Faraway Tree where there is a ladder. I started reading this at a fairly young age and would sit for ages on my bed, lost in the world of the Enchanted Wood and wishing something like finding the Magic Faraway Tree would happen to me instead of having to play cops and robbers with my brother.Dick (later Rick), the cousin of Jo, Bessie and Fanny, comes to stay and he joins the secret adventures in the lands of the Faraway Tree. Now this is not the same Slap that had her own book (Dame Slap and her School) because the teacher in that particular case was a rabbit.

The part of this story that always captured my imagination the most was the fact that the magical faraway tree had a winding inner slide in its trunk. This really has won against the test of time, and I will be recommending it to my nieces in a few years as I think they will absolutely love the books too! The final name change, which bothers me the most of all however, is Dame Slap, who is now Dame Snap.To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. This is a fun storybook for kids because it will blow the minds of the young ones ( preferably under the age of 9 ) who will be amazed to read about all the little folks who've built homes in a huge tree that grew all the way to the clouds. When the children first meet Silky, she is described as an elf: ″At that moment the yellow door opened and a small elf looked out. Often, what so appealed to our younger selves we later find riddled with plot holes, become distanced from the young protagonists, or find them just generally unsuited for an adult readership. It is then that they are introduced to the Slippery-Slip which is a hole in the floor of Moon-face's little house.
