I’m 99% sure this will beat out either of the NAS attempts listed above, so I’ll be comparing it to the whisky it replaced. Has an ok balance with nothing too distracting happening. A medium body and a smooth uneventful texture. A good solid basic malt. The Old Pulteney 12 is the kind of whisky that’s easy to drink, easy to mix and easy on the wallet. I want a little more complexity in my daily drinkers, but this is something that’s nice and easy to sip on and I’m really digging it for what it is. Sweet malty fruity aroma and a fruity, malty, spicy flavor make for a nice combo… really not a bad little malt.

Final Thoughts: Old Pulteney Huddart is a wonderfully smooth Scotch whisky. The flavors are light and goes down smoother than almost any other whisky I have had. This would be a perfect whisky to offer someone who has never had whiskey, or someone who has been on the fence about whiskey. The touch of briny flavor from the sea air adds a perfect touch that you won’t find in hardly any other whiskies. Fruity, malty, and spicy. The finish flips the sweet and woody-earthy-spicy aspects of the whisky end over end, becoming far less sweet on the way down than the whisky was while sitting on your palate. It’s a nice capstone for the overall experience and really adds to it. The nose tells you that this isn’t what one should look out for in a Highland malt with a nautical theme. Instead of a saline aspect and perhaps a whiff of smoke, it’s a fruity malt. The scent is rich with green apples, raisins and citrus zest, sitting in a pool of honey and vanilla extract.
