About this deal

One thing to point out is to get maximum results from this lens you need to run the camera in aperture priority mode or manual exposure mode. The problem is that all older reviews don't use numerical values and therefore it's impossible to compare one to the other.

Strangely, I found the lens to miss focus more often using the Panasonic GX8 than I did on the Olympus E-M10 II. As far as same amount of light, the sensor sensitivity does not change the amount of light it's getting. And even on the highest resolution 20MP Four Thirds sensors, its resolving power should leave most users satisfied. But if asked what is the best lens bargain to be had this is always the first lens that comes to mind.MPB will also keep you informed about the status of your gear at every step of the way and the whole process is carbon neutral. However, the type of purplish, four petal cross flare as seen on your photo with candles, might actually not be the lens’ fault.

Analysis of the camera’s raw files reveals that Panasonic has adopted its usual approach of leaving a little more barrel distortion than would be usual if this were a DSLR lens, and correcting it in software. I'm just trying to understand where this lens sits according to the other 25mm lenses in the system based on your testing. APS-C and full frame with similar aperture means even better low light performance and bokeh than with MFT. Panasonic does supply a lens hood with the lens, but it is a little odd to use because you must first remove a ring on the front of the lens.

The lens ships with the H-H025 hood, a round hood with matte black ridges in the interior to cut down on veiling flare.

There is some corner shading present when the lens is used wide open: we note corners that are 2/3 of a stop darker than the center when the lens is used at ƒ/1. Apochromatic lenses have special lens elements (aspheric, extra-low dispersion etc) to minimize the problem, hence they usually cost more. or greater MFT lenses new on sale and the only lenses that cost less are manual focus lenses with slower apertures. Any idea of how I can best figure out if the lens actually has a problem (warranty) or if it just is not better by design. I think the most prudent equivalence would be ISO, to stop using ISO numbers that are not equivalent performance in dynamic range and SNR.But what I really like about it, is the bokeh, which I found surprising as I never really cared about this aspect. Seven blades give the aperture a rounded shape that produces an attractively smooth effect in out-of-focus areas when shooting at larger aperture settings.
