About this deal

If one character trails just behind you in magic then they sure won't stay quiet about it, goading you with taunts of their encroaching comeback. With a ragtag bunch of heroes and a fiendish villain to fight back against it's certainly well-worn material, but acts as a solid platform to support plenty of opportunities to engage in battles.

Gates also heal your battle-weary monsters and activate them again after they become fatigued through use.On a final note, I'd like to say that the Limited Edition version of this game was so profoundly packaged with amazing artwork and very cool extras that I simply couldn't believe the amount of love and detail that went into the preparation. Don't let these part-timers fool you, Culdcept Revolt should be purchased immediately by anyone with a 3DS and interest in CCG's/board games. Spaces I own can be upgraded using magic power, making the toll a costlier expense should an opponent land there.

The story is paper-thin, but the gameplay is perfectly balanced, and online multiplayer available to test your wits against anyone out there. I could see playing this for quite some time to come just because of the sheer amount of strategy and variation. Expanding and upgrading your territory adds a steady income of magic, and of course you charge a toll for any player unlucky enough to land on your turf. The game was released in July 2016 in Japan by Nintendo and in October 2017 internationally by NIS America.Although Nintendo originally published Culdcept Revolt in Japan, their 2017 dance card was full enough that NIS America was able to pick this up for the rest of the world. The game of Culdcept is a hybrid of light RPG, collectible card games and property control games like Monopoly. Up to four players roll dice each turn to determine how many spaces they move around a variety of different maps, claiming squares as their own by placing guardian monsters on them, which then demand a toll off any other player who subsequently lands on the space.

Those interested in Culdcept Revolt will likely find the most enjoyment in competing against others online, rather than NPCs who feel as though they’re wasting the player’s time going through every motion another human player would do in full detail. Smaller tweaks such as the fatigue that afflicts monsters, the fact that you now discard at the end of your turn, and the introduction of new buildings also change things up, but another major addition are the slightly bizarre Evo cards. When forming your deck of fifty cards, which are here named 'books', you need to keep in mind the more attack-oriented fire and earth elements, while balancing trickier water and air elements that boast special abilities.
