The result is a wonderful surface for writing on - papyrus went on being used across the Mediterranean until about a thousand years ago, and indeed gave most European languages their very word for paper. Every now and then, distracted, they look at each other for a moment instead of at the sky. They cannot keep their yearning eyes from the impetuosity they see then, but hands, they restrain the hands. Never touching, is the promise they have made, the promise that makes it possible for them to come together like this every night. For years. To love each other this way. Without a blemish. Its history was recorded, simply, as follows: ‘Could be 1768 George Ensor, architect, 6 of 2 Seven houses for seven daughters’. Colourful hieroglyphs captured the attention of medieval Arab travellers as they explored ancient temples and tombs, particularly from the AD 900s onwards. Describing the mysterious writing as the ‘letters of birds’, most probably due to the frequent appearance of bird signs, Arab scholars hoped to uncover the secrets of ancient sciences and magic. Some used hieroglyphs as cryptic codes for the Arabic alphabet, while others consulted local Coptic speakers, searching for a way to understand the ancient texts. Interest from Europe

It's quite difficult to tell exactly how representative Egyptian mathematics is in the early second millennium BC. The only evidence we've got to compare it with at the same time is from Babylonia, southern Iraq. Because they were the only two civilisations at that point that actually used writing. So I'm sure that lots of cultures were counting and managing with numbers, but they all did it - as far as we know - without ever writing things down. The Babylonians we know a lot more about, because they wrote on clay tablets and, unlike papyrus, clay survives very well in the ground over thousands of years. So for Egyptian mathematics we have perhaps six, maximum ten, pieces of writing about mathematics, and the biggest of course is the Rhind Papyrus." The homes in Seven Empty Houses, the latest short story collection by Argentine author Samanta Schweblin to appear in English, are not ones you’d want to return to for the holidays. The houses are not literally empty but are, rather, inhabited by people—usually women—grappling with emptiness in various forms. In Schweblin’s twisted world, the domestic is distorted, off-kilter, unheimlich: uncanny, and in the word’s more literal translation, deeply “unhomely.” Sure, some of these homes have Christmas trees, but on their branches there are “six Santa Claus figures dangling [ … ] like a club of hanged men.” One of the oldest cities in Ireland, Armagh is famous for its Georgian façades and listed buildings which are instrumental in giving Armagh its distinctive, unique and historical feel. Buying a house can seem overly complicated and confusing, so we have outlined the usual process below. If we didn't have the Rhind Mathematical Papyrus, we'd actually know very little indeed about how the Egyptians did mathematics. The algebra is entirely what we would call linear algebra, straight line equations. There are some what now we would call arithmetical progressions, which are a little bit more sophisticated. The geometry's a very basic kind as well. Ahmose tells us how to calculate the area of a circle, and how to calculate the area of a triangle. There is nothing in this papyrus that would trouble your average GCSE student, and most of the stuff is rather less advanced than that."

In Zeven huizen maakt ze van dat voorrecht ten volle en met stijl gebruik. Ze vertelt het verhaal van vier generaties Turkse vrouwen en neemt ons daartoe mee op een tocht gedurende de hele twintigste eeuw. The papers reveal that, as a result of the recently constructed neighbouring building, a “narrow gap” has been formed between the extension and the new return of No 2 Seven Houses, making the maintenance of the rear roof slope and gutter “extremely awkward”. But if everybody agreed that training like this produced a formidable state machine, the question of what mathematics the Greeks actually did learn from the Egyptians, remains a matter of debate. Clive Rix, of the University of Leicester: A new conservation rooflight from ‘The Rooflight Company’ is to be installed over the stairwell to allow light to flood this dull space.”One such architect was Tjeerd Kuipers, most famous for a commissioned project that he completed for Sam van Eeghen. The aptly named Seven Country Houses, a row of seven houses were built to represent the architectural styles of Europe. This style now called Exotism represents a romanticized longing for what is far away. The houses are not only based on various countries’ architectural styles, but also display what they contributed to the history of architecture. The houses are now national monuments.

From the 1400s, Rome became the bustling centre for Egyptian studies. Ancient monuments that had fallen into ruin, brought to Italy as trophies of Roman conquest long ago, were rediscovered and restored. Scholars of the Renaissance period (1300–1550) began to study the inscriptions and old manuscripts that slowly reached them in Europe from travellers to Egypt. They believed that hieroglyphs represented concepts as symbols, rather than a written language. The French Expedition The teachers, by applying the rules and practices of arithmetic to play, prepare their pupils for the tasks of marshalling and leading armies and organising military expeditions and all together form them into persons more useful to themselves and to others and a great deal wider awake." [Laws 7,819] The synopsis sounded so promising and such an original concept (!) [the narrators are seven houses inhabited by a Turkish family over the decades], if only the outcome of the idea was as great... It sadly put me in a reading slump; i started it the end of June, finished it 8th of August and only in October I am writing a review. See, the writing style was definitely amazing and descriptive but the story became so dreaded and boring sometimes? I got excited to read about some history set in Turkey and learn about my ethnicity. I loved Esma's character as well as the curious Amber. Consequently, we propose to demolish this later addition along with the external steps, which have been altered in the past, and to construct a wider extension with a lean-to roof which will sit more comfortably alongside the new return of No 43.One of Armagh’s most historic buildings has risen from the ashes thanks to the multi-million-pound Armagh Townscape Heritage scheme – a partnership project supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council and building owners. Help to Buy is available to help those who can’t quite afford the mortgage on 100% of a home and offers the chance to buy a share of your home with the rest paid for by a loan from the Government.

Aegon's half-brother, Orys Baratheon, slew Argilac the Arrogant, the last Storm King from House Durrandon. Orys married Argilac's daughter, Argella Durrandon, forming House Baratheon of Storm's End, the youngest of the great Houses of Westeros. [5]And if you're still counting the cats, and the mice, and the ears of grain in the puzzle that I began with, the answer is, of course ...19,607. In the last 30% we made such a time jump which made the story confusing and makes you wonder about what happened in 40 year time. So many questions about the characters which were left in the dark. I'm still gonna put some quotes here which I'll remember the book by:
