About this deal

The specification shows that the maximum user weight supported is 100kg, which translates to 15st 10lbs. It’s not the highest & could’ve benefitted from being tested upto 130kg. If you’re under 100kg though, this isn’t a problem for you! While rowing, the R200 is reasonably quiet, although it does occasionally get a mysterious rattle under the seat that eventually seems to resolve itself. The rower gets used about six times a week in our household, and has stood up well to that level of use for six months.

Folding it away is really simple too, you don’t need to physically de-assemble it. You can also wheel it away, with the attached transport wheels. This means that there won’t be any scrape marks on your floor. However, for longer workouts – anything over 15 minutes – the seat begins to feel hard and both my wife and I noticed that the seat rubbed on our skin and was painful after the workout. That makes it sound like we were rowing naked – we weren’t – honestly! The R200 is a great choice if you’re short on space. The machine folds upright for easy storage after your workout. Don’t expect much in the way of device connectivity as there isn’t any but to be honest it isn’t needed and if you are looking for a good quality rower that just works and is low cost then this is it.

A great-value entry-level folding rowing machine

Magnetic Resistance is often overlooked, due to it not offering the most immersive experience. It’s a physical magnet which is situated close to the flywheel, determining the intensity of the workout. Rowing machines are excellent for cardio workouts that utilise the upper and lower body and the JLL R200 rowing machine is no exception. Undertaking a 30 day review of the R200 meant that we could really get to grips with it and push ourselves and the machine to its full as well as finding out if it had any funny little quirks that might become annoying over time. I’d recommend this machine for more slow-duration and steady-stated cardio rather than more intense HIIT workouts. The resistance is great compared to other magnetic rowers and even better when you consider the price but it cannot compete with the higher-end air rowers when performing more intense bouts of exercise.

Measuring up at just 71cm (l) x 52cm (w) x 127cm (h) when folded this is an exceptionally compact rowing machine. When in use the length is 180cm in total with the width remaining the same and the total height becoming 58cm. The footplates on this rower are pretty large and will fit any shoe size comfortably. The plates are fitted with velcro straps with are easy to adjust but also keep your feet surprisingly secure throughout each stroke with no sliding movement. The screen is small but it displays the necessary information efficiently. Certain parts of this rowing machine like the foot cradles and handlebar feel a little cheap and may not last. It’s a shame there’s no device stand, but that’s not a dealbreaker for me.The LCD monitor is well positioned and despite its diminutive size the information displayed is easy to read thanks to the size of the displayed data. You can easily cycle through the data at the touch of a button and choose which data you want displayed during your workout. The 10 levels of magnetic resistance were what concerned us more than anything before we started using the R200 but this concern was unfounded as the resistance levels are actually pretty impressive and have a good difficulty range from 1 to 10. The JLL R200 rowing machine does exactly what it sets out to – that is to deliver a high quality rowing machine at a budget price. It isn’t fancy in any way but it provides a good level of cardio and an upper and lower body workout at a very reasonable cost. The levels of comfort are impressive and the longer than average seat rail means that taller users will also enjoy a comfortable experience.

If you prefer to keep it stored away, it is foldable and also pretty lightweight at just 23kg which means this is one of the best rowing machines for easy storage. You can pay up to four figures for a rowing machine but throwing money at it won’t necessarily get the most suitable one for you. Our buyer’s guide to the best rowing machines will help you to decide which one to choose. Yes there are cheaper models, but in our experience they are not worth the investment if you plan to use your rower for years to come – which should be no problem for the JLL R200.The magnetic resistance is controlled by the dial on the main body and this is conveniently located just below the LCD monitor and is easy to change without having to get out of your seat. The unit can be folded up when not in use and also has transport wheels to allow you to easily move it in to a different position when you are working out. The R200 rowing machine is one of the most lightweight rowers on the market and is also pretty compact without becoming unusable for anyone over 6ft. In fact, our tester was 6′ 2″ and found the seat rail length of 115.5cm to be more than ample for a comfortable workout.

signing with the delivery company. Failure to do so could affect your warranty should any issues arise. The JLL R200 rowing machine is a good-quality budget rower. It isn’t going to win any awards for design or advanced functionality, but if you are looking for a good-quality rowing machine that is comfortable to use, easy to store and that is going to last for years to come then the R200 has to be a top consideration – especially if your budget is tight. There is an LCD display that is well positioned if not a little on the small side, and the resistance can be adjusted via the knob that sits just below the screen. Upon first inspection everything seems fairly well proportioned, well made and in line with expectations based on previous experience of JLL products. With an ergonomic design, computer console and self-powered structure, this rowing machine is a solid option for any home workouts. If you want a bit more flexibility about where you row, self-powered rowing machines can be really beneficial as they allow you to take your rowing machine into the garden or garage, completely eliminating the need for wires to be thrown across the floor or for you to invest in another extension cable.
