About this deal

The NEMO Forte 35F is rated according to ISO/EN Standards which include a range of temperatures at which a sleeping bag is usable, from Comfort to Lower Limit. Now that we have this universal standard, I think it’s most helpful when companies publish both the comfort and limit temperatures as a range.

The lowest temperature ideal to handle with the Disco bag is 15°F or -9°C. However, Forte has a less broad spectrum with ample protection from the temperature of 20°F or -7°C. This bag weighs in at a hefty 3.4 pounds and we would not recommend carrying it for long distances if you can help it. Typically synthetic bags weigh more, but there are lighter models in our selection. With all of the Forte's added features like the two additional zippers and the "blanket fold", we're not surprised how heavy this bag is.I included it as a cost-conscious option. It’s a decent introductory level sleeping bag for the price. Sleeping bags are any camper’s essential equipment that needs to be ideal. Optimum functionality, comfort, lightest weight, and weather protection are among some features you require. Out of multiple brands in the market, Nemo is also a recognized name. So today, we will explore the Nemo Tempo vs Forte vs Disco sleeping bag comparisons to understand their attributes.

The bag is filled with 850-fill-power goose down certified to the Responsible Down Standard (RDS) and bluesign approved. It’s also been treated to be water-resistant.Nemo has kept the innovative Thermo Gills which are shown by the 2 slits down the centre of the bag. They unzip to let warm air out if you get too hot at night, allowing you to vent body heat without letting cold drafts in and they work really well, especially in changeable conditions. We always recommend that you choose your bag according to the coldest conditions you will experience; you can always unzip a bag if it is too warm, but trying to sleep when you’re too cold is just miserable. Bear in mind that we are all individuals, so we all feel the cold differently and that our own resistance will fluctuate depending on a whole load of factors, including how much we have eaten, whether we have consumed alcohol, whether we need a wee or what kind of mood we are in! A bag’s insulating material will greatly alter its weight-to-warmth ratio. The downside of down (ahem) is that if it gets wet, it loses its warming power.

You can still very much be cold if you take the sleeping bag to its limit. The comfort rating is the maximum cold temperature your sleeping bag can—you guessed it— comfortably handle. Most of the time, the real comfort rating is 8-14 degrees higher than the limit rating. On top of all that (quite literally), Montbell has used Gore’s new(ish) Infinium fabric for the shell. This is basically the next gen version of their Windstopper fabric. It’s super lightweight, highly water resistant (but not waterproof), totally windproof and has a lovely bit of stretch to it. It’s top grade stuff that you only really see in the best of sleeping bags out there. The NEMO Forte 35 is a spoon-shaped synthetic sleeping bag designed for side sleepers. As a rotisserie sleeper myself, I had a hard time using this bag. As I moved from side to side, I got tangled up. When I’m in a traditional body-hugging mummy bag, I tend to stay more in one place, and when I do move, the bag moves with me. There is enough girth in the Forte that the bag didn’t turn when I did, so I found the zipper ending up in a bunch of different places, having to readjust the Blanket Fold, and fighting the oversized hood. From high-priced bags like the Western Mountaineering Alpinlite to the economical Kelty Cosmic, manufacturers assure that their sleeping bags have undergone rigorous testing and development to ensure that they keep adventurers safe in some of the harshest environments. Testing gear is serious business; (photo/Eric Phillips) The women’s version of the Forte bag has a comfort rating of 20 degrees Fahrenheit, and the men’s is rated at 32 degrees, so as long as the temperature is above that lower limit, you should sleep comfortably through the night. The bag features “gills,” which are two ventilating zippers over the torso area for warm nights that provide extra breathability without letting too much heat escape from inside the bag. You can also open the zipper around the feet to let heat escape. In the heat-retention test that I conducted on all 13 sleeping bags, the Forte was one of the top performers, so once it’s warmed up, it stays warm.On top of all this, a Life Cycle Assessment will be carried out to ensure that this sleeping bag’s carbon footprint is totally off-set and this will be done through the purchasing of carbon credits that go towards supporting projects that work to clean up our atmosphere. Yes, Nemo is a loved brand among people for good reason. They have sleeping bags for all types of weather conditions and are pretty roomy. Users enjoy these features and prefer the brand for the same. Similar to the Forte, the Disco has the Nemo spoon shape design offering additional room in the knees and hips for women, and shoulder and hips for men. It’s great for side sleepers who need extra room around the knees.
