About this deal

Where goods are received back damaged due to inadequate packing by you, we will not be able to refund in full. After spending over 6 hours hulling tray after tray of strawberries we can safely say that the Chef’n StemGem is the best all-round strawberry huller. The sharp stainless steel tips are tapered for easy insertion into the strawberry hull and with a bit of practice, we found the technique required to quickly remove the hulls with minimal waste, meaning you can be on your way to that Decadent Strawberry Mousse for Two even faster!

The soft non-slip handle and hinged design absorb pressure, so you stay comfortable whether hulling strawberries for snacks or baking. We also found that the OXO had a tendency to slice leaves when we twisted, leaving small leaves behind on the strawberry which needed to be removed. There is a helpful trio of photos on the back of the packing which guides you through the process of strawberry hull removal using the Chef'n Original Stem Gem Strawberry Huller, and back there you will also find out that this cute and handy gadget is top rack dishwasher safe and BPA free.

The simple push-button mechanism hulls strawberries quickly and its fun design makes it easy to find in the drawer. For a set that includes everything you need to hull and slice your strawberries, consider the Joie Strawberry Huller and Slicer. The unique tapered stainless steel blades make quick work of hulling whilst the precise shape ensures minimal wastage.Out of all the different types of strawberry hullers we tested, the tong style was our least favorite. The sharpness of the metal tips renders this tool unsafe for kids, in our opinion, and unfortunately the tool does not come with any sort of guard for storage. The hinged design and soft non-slip handle provides comfort whilst accommodating strawberries (and tomatoes) of all shapes and sizes. Likewise, strawberry hullers are great for cocktail garnishes and eye-catching desserts that require a more uniform look. Personalised advertising may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of information under California and other state privacy laws, and you may have a right to opt out.

Once your berries are thoroughly cleaned and hulled, place them in the slicer and push gently, easily creating a ton of perfectly sliced berries for yogurt, salads, and dessert toppings. The huller works with strawberries (and tomatoes) of all shapes and sizes without wasting any precious fruit.

The blades were also sharp enough to pierce the berry easily, but not so sharp that we worried about the tool slipping and cutting our hands. We also don’t think this huller would be that great for anyone with hand mobility issues as it does require some dexterity to hold the tool and simultaneously operate the plunging action. On the downside, we found that it is all too easy to accidentally take a big bite out of your precious berries using this tool. You could certainly use a paring knife to remove the hulls from your strawberries, however, not only does this require a deft hand but it also can get a bit tiresome--especially if you have a bunch of berries to get through! A strawberry huller is a purpose-made tool just for removing the stem and leaves from strawberries while leaving behind the bulk of the flesh.
