About this deal

Finding out Shaka - our award winning pale ale - was his new favourite drink gave us the idea about making a beer with him. You can also browse by medium to find art by David Shrigley in screen print, lithograph, offset print and more.

In 2003 he directed the animation for the music video for Blur’s ‘”Good Song” and in 2004 Bonnie 'Prince' Billy's "Agnes, Queen of Sorrow".

And to top it off, something that goes towards our community - 25% of profits go to the Fitzherbert Community Hub , a charity close to David’s heart and ours. In 2016, he was awarded the Fourth Plinth Commission for sculpture in Trafalgar Square and was nominated for the prestigious Turner Prize Award in 2013. Shrigley was nominated for the 2013 Turner Prize and awarded an OBE in the Queen’s New Years Honours List 2020. In 2013 Shrigley was shortlisted for the monumental Turner Prize following his major mid-career retrospective at the Hayward Gallery, London entitled ‘Brain Activity'.

Inspired by a simplicity of sorts, David Shrigley’s art is recognisable for his flat compositions accompanied by satirical comments on mundane, everyday situations. We understand that diversity is a strength, and our mission is to create an environment where everyone feels welcome and inspired, both to explore and acquire unique art and lifestyle products, regardless of their background, tastes, or budget. Although his degree show wasn’t much appreciated by his university tutors, in 2013 he gained the recognition of the art establishment by winning the Turner Prize for contemporary art. Nominated for the Turner Prize in 2013, Glasgow School of Art alumnus Shrigley also created an elongated thumbs-up for the Fourth Plinth in London's Trafalgar Square in 2016 – in the (possibly satirical) hope of "making the world a better place".

He is one of those unique artists, like Andy Warhol or Keith Haring, who is recognised within the art world but whose reach extends far beyond to impact our wider culture.

The words ‘elephant chooses to stand on your car’ are written in capital letters on five heavily-ruled lines next to the left of the elephant’s legs, under its trunk.
