Makita’s 18v & 14v batteries have a built in memory chip that records the battery usage history. While the battery is connected it will transmit the data to the charger The re-charging time of such battery may be longer than usual as the battery may have continued to discharge in spite of low power. Recharge time for the BL1850B 5.0Ah battery is just 45 minutes when using a Makita DC18RC or DC18RA fast charger. This compares with 22 minutes for the popular 3.0Ah 18v Makita Li-ion battery or 36 minutes for the 4.0Ah Li-ion battery. The battery capacity indicator LED's which show you how much power you have left at the touch of a button. A flashing yellow light indicates a cooling abnormality. A yellow light will start to flash if the Cooling systemhas come into operation. The battery will still charge in spite of the warning light, but it may take longer than usual. The Makita DC18RC battery charger always lights up red/green and the battery cannot be charged. There are several possible causes for this problem: A solid red light means a battery is being charged.
