About this deal

NUK is a little different from some other manufacturers. It features two different teat sizes and each size comes with S, M and L hole sizes for you to choose from. The most difficult time is during transitions, though these can still be timely and comfortable for your infant, due to the multiple different nipple sizes that Avent offers. If your baby is struggling with their feeds – spluttering, choking coughing – or on the other side of the spectrum becoming agitated and fussy while eating, it could be time to change teats. For babies who are alternating between breastfeeding and bottle usage, 1 is the recommended number of Avent nipple sizes. The number 1 is recommended to use regardless of the babies age if alternating between breast and bottle is the practice.

However, if your baby seems frustrated and impatient during feedings, you might want to experiment with a faster nipple flow. Infants who are from three to size months old should be finishing the bottle between fifteen and thirty minutes. Some mothers have upgraded from the 1 to the 2 and even the three after their baby is 12 weeks old. It all depends on the baby’s size. If you’re unsure if they’re ready, rest assured there’s no exact science to when it’s time to change up the flow rate on your baby’s bottle. The MAM Baby range features four different flow sizes for teats. Confusingly their final size is called Size x, not size 4, and is an extra fast flow according to the manufacturer.

Then again, if your child is struggling to finish the bottle after forty minutes, the baby probably needs a larger nipple size. However, while this may be recommended, Avent nipple sizes also go to 2 and 3 for a reason. Not every child is the same. Teats are available for 0m, 0m+, 1m+, 3m+ and 6m+. See image below for an overview. These Philips Avent Natural teats can be used on the Philips Avent Natural feeding bottle and Philips Avent storage cups. Your baby will tell you what he or she needs. Within these age divisions and nipple sizes, Avent also offers two more options. If your baby is both breastfed and bottle-fed, for the first month you should use the Newborn nipple that has one hole. This is because the rate at which your baby feeds is a direct indicator of how much he or she is drinking

The Natural First Flow teat (with the number 0 on the teat) can be used from day 1 and when switching from breastfeeding to bottle-feeding. It has an extra soft silicone teat and it is the lowest flow rate available. If your baby is not doing well on a particular flow rate, and you’ve tried changing it, it may be time to switch to another brand. Dr Brown’s When I was a new parent, I was naïve about the world of bottle nipples. I didn’t know they came in different flow sizes. I just figured they were all the same. But you need to get one that matches your baby’s stage of development. Since I’ve been there, I can help you find out which Philips Avent Nipple Sizes you should be using for your baby. If your child seems generally happy and healthy, chances are that you already have the right size nipple. When it comes to deciding on changing baby’s teat you can assess both the signs they’re ready as well as their age before taking the leap.
