Just as in people, an episode of flatulence (wind) or diarrhoea can be triggered in some dogs if their food doesn’t agree with them. This is known as having a ‘sensitive stomach’. Because your dog’s digestive system is crucial in making sure all the nutrients from their food can be absorbed and used, it is very important that they are fed sensitive dog food that can help support this, without making them ill. Your dog’s age is another important consideration. Nutrition plays a significant role when it’s tailored to the different stages of a dog’s development, supporting the optimum quality of life, from puppyhood to adult and throughout their senior years.

At Burgess, all of our kibble for dogs is made using thermal extrusion. The process involves grinding down a range of quality ingredients into a fine flour and mixing them together. Sensitive stomachs can be caused by a range of factors and can happen at any age. Some puppies are born with them, while some dogs can develop stomach issues over time. All the foods in the Burgess Sensitive Dog Food range for puppies, adults and senior dogs are complete. This means that you can be sure you are providing your pet with all the nutrients they require in exactly the right proportions, so you don’t have to worry about balancing their diet. We’ve also developed kibble dog foods to meet the nutritional needs of working and sporting dogs, Greyhounds and Lurchers and dogs with sensitive stomachs as well as a light variety for dogs who need to lose weight or are less mobile. How often should I feed my dog? Puppies (up to when they’re 12 months old) require a little more protein to support their growing muscles and the right balance of calcium and phosphorus for developing bones and teeth.Burgess Pet Care is committed to making safe, high quality dog food for canines of all ages. All our dog foods are made at our own factory in the heart of Yorkshire, using only ingredients that meet our stringent specifications – locally sourced wherever possible to support British farmers. Analytical constituents: Crude Protein 19%, Crude Fat 11%, Crude Fibre 2.5%, Crude ash 13%, Calcium 3.3%, Phosphorus 1.3%.

As omnivores, dogs naturally eat meat, grains and plant products. However, as the most common dietary allergens in dogs are beef, dairy and wheat, it follows that if your dog has a sensitive stomach, choosing a food that doesn’t contain any of these ingredients may be helpful. Dogs also need a little bit of fibre in their diet to help maintain a healthy gut. Pea fibre and wholegrain cereals are examples of fibre you may find in your dog’s food. As well as fibre, small quantities of fish oil is great for your dog’s skin and coat condition. Food allergies and food intolerances are two different conditions which often have similar symptoms. While they are both examples of adverse food reactions, food allergies involve the animal’s immune system while food intolerances do not. Burgess Sensitive Adult Food is available in three varieties – turkey, salmon and lamb, so you can see what suits your dog’s digestion best. There are no studies that have shown grain-inclusive diets to be detrimental to the health of our domestic dogs and it is rare that a dog would require a grain-free diet for medical reasons. In fact, the cooked grains in commercial diets provide an array of beneficial nutrients to the diet including vitamins, minerals, and fibre. Dogs need a little bit of fibre in their diet to help maintain a healthy gut. Pea fibre and wholegrain cereals are examples of fibre you may find in standard dog food. For dogs with sensitive stomachs, Burgess Sensitive dog food excludes wheat and uses rice instead as an important and easily digestible source of carbohydrate and fibre.
