About this deal

He is the author of many highly, acclaimed, award-winning picture books, including Blown Away, GRRRRR! Harold and the Purple Crayon meets The Train to Impossible Places for boys and girls of 8+, this dazzling adventure fizzes with magic, danger, friendship and art. It was great watching the relationship develop between Peanut and Rockwell – two fully realised characters who I’m in love with for very different reasons. The second title in the funny, exciting adventure series for boys and girls of 8 to 12 fizzes with magic, danger, friendship and art.

Now he spends his time making up stories for his three daughters and drawing pictures to go with them. The first book in Rob Biddulph’s breathtaking new trilogy, and his first aimed at slightly older readers, heaves with imaginative ideas and brilliantly original characters (the useless superhero Table Guy, whose sole power is making tables fly, is sure to be a firm favourite). There are also Easter eggs (or clues to the plot) that you notice when you look back through the illustrations after you’ve finished the book (a portrait of Queen Victoria in Peanut’s dad’s art studio, the number 72 on the train engine post-it…) I also enjoyed spotting references to Rob’s other creations (the Penguin Blue postcard in Peanut’s bedroom) and the whale from his record breaking draw-along on Peanut’s desk.DrawWithRob became an internet sensation, garnering national and international media coverage, and has been used as a learning resource by thousands of families across the globe.

The second installment of the trilogy, Peanut Jones and the Twelve Portals, was published in September 2022 and was awarded Cover of the Year 2023 at The Week Junior Book Awards, and the third, Peanut Jones and the End of the Rainbow, was published in September 2023. Each chapter is short and utterly engrossing, and almost every page is filled with stylish black and red illustrations, bringing Peanut’s world to life. It has an interesting central mystery and all of the characters are relatable and develop throughout the story. In July 2023, the first in a new series of Draw With Rob books for pre-school children was published. She is joined on her quest by her study buddy Rockwell, Little Bit (her genius five-year-old sister) and Doodle the dog. One thing i really love about this book is the illustrations in side, they are black, white and orange. I loved this book from start to finish - the story is packed with twists and turns, and Rob’s illustrations are full of wit and warmth. Happy Hatchday was awarded a GOLD Junior Design Award in 2018 and Give Peas a Chance was nominated for the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal in 2019.

This is a beautiful book, the images on the page and the magnificent imagery created by the words exist in perfect harmony, each helping the other to tell the story of Peanut's emotions and journey. Armed only with a magical pencil and her imagination, Peanut finds herself in the resistance against the ruthless Mr White – the city mayor who wants to rid Chroma of its colour and beauty– and hunting for her lost father. The discovery of a magic pencil, that literally brings drawings to life, enables her to draw a door and step through into another world, where she hopes she may be able to find her father. Then there’s the Cute Quarter which is very reminiscent of the Japanese Kawaii aesthetic, and the Light District which is like stepping into a painting by Monet. There are twelve different districts to the city, each with its own distinct artistic style ranging from the chaotic Strip where everyone’s conversations are displayed in speech bubbles, to Vincent Fields which is full of cornfields, sunflowers and haystacks.

was nominated for the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal and was read as a CBeebies Bedtime Story by Chris Kamara in 2019. Superstar, author and illustrator Rob Biddulph dazzles in Peanut Jones and the Illustrated City, the first title in an adventure series for children eight and above. The first in what is sure to become a best selling and popular series introduces us to the amazing Peanut Jones. Together they face many dangers as they travel through the land of Chroma, not least the villainous Mr. His third, Odd Dog Out, was nominated for a total of eight literary prizes, winning the BSC Festival of Literature Picture Book Award and the UKLA Student Shadower’s Vote Book Award.
