About this deal

Coxon left the band during early recording sessions for Think Tank, and Blur disbanded for several years after the end of the album's associated tour, with the members engaged in other projects. The record came sealed and appears to be the above version in every conceivable way (even has the obi), but has no poster or download card. Following a stylistic change influenced by English guitar pop groups such as the Kinks, Depeche Mode and Radiohead, Blur released Modern Life Is Rubbish (1993), Parklife (1994) and The Great Escape (1995). Thankfully, this is the first album released this year that has left me simultaneously pleasantly relaxed and upbeat. Two years later we made the move to our present address, 35 The Headrow, where we have remained ever since.

It’s fantastic, but compared to the two new songs they’ve released in 2023, it feels incredibly transitional. The Magic Whip is the upcoming eighth studio album by the English rock band Blur, which will be released on 27 April 2015.User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply. I don't have a clever ice cream or Blur reference to end this review on, but this album is a flavor of music we've been missing that has brought clarity to my cloud-filled album library. The package itself is something else too, there’s an Asian influence, possibly as recordings were made in Hong Kong, the sleeve is beautiful and even has an Obi strip like vinyl from Japan.

There’s a double sided giant poster, two printed inner sleeves, a mirror on the rear of the heavy card matt gatefold sleeve and a download card. Please note, The Vinyl Whistle accepts no responsibility for any package which is damaged, lost or stolen during transit. Songs on The Magic Whip mention internet hotspots, satellite showers, industrial light and glass arcades. In the following months, Albarn had stated in interviews that he was unsure whether the resulting music would ever be released. It will be the band’s first studio album since Think Tank (2003), marking the longest gap between two studio albums in their career, their first with guitarist Graham Coxon since 13 in 1999.

Due to inventory and accounting purposes, we do not exchange items received for different items than originally purchased.Blur's self-titled fifth album (1997) saw another stylistic shift, influenced by the lo-fi styles of American indie rock groups, and became their third UK chart-topping album. Regardless of country of origin all tracks are sung in English, unless otherwise stated in our description. Additionally make sure your User-Agent is not empty and is something unique and descriptive and try again. The album will connect to everyone in a different way, but it sounded like Broken Bell's outer space sound, combined with Damon's Britpop flavor, and a lot more electronic sounds you've heard with other Blur works.

In an attempt to distract themselves, they worked on new material in Avon Studios, as announced by Damon Albarn during the gig at AsiaWorld-Expo, Chek Lap Kok. As a result, the band helped to popularise the Britpop genre and achieved mass popularity in the UK, aided by a chart battle with rival band Oasis in 1995 dubbed "The Battle of Britpop". We carry a broad range of CDs and vinyl (7”/12” singles and LPs) and specialise in indie, alternative, rock, punk, metal plus a few other genres.

The Magic Whip is the first Blur album since 2003's Think Tank, the first with guitarist Graham Coxon onboard since 1999's 13 (Coxon was booted from the Think Tank sessions a week in and summarily quit), and the first with producer Stephen Street since 1997's Blur. Their next album, 13 (1999) saw the band experimenting with electronic and gospel music, and featured more personal lyrics from Albarn.
