That lacquer protects the worktop but also stops the ageing process. Keeping the lacquer in good condition is paramount. Therefore, we recommend only using warm soapy water and a soft cloth to clean it. As a natural and living material, copper often changes colour as it ages from wear and tear. This is true of most metals, although stainless steel is a notable exception. It’s good to know that the use of acidic liquids, such as lemon juice or vinegar, may cause stains on the surface. So keep this in mind if you are considering installing copper worktops in your kitchen.

We recommend that the plastic coating protecting the Copper must be left intact until installation is completed. Although the sheets come directly from the mill, copper by its very nature is a relatively soft material and may have some minor marks, scratches and dents in it from new. Where a welding process has taken place, there could be some minor pitting. This is quite normal and a natural by-product of the welding process and will blend in over time. Copper kitchen units have a natural warm glow, which means you can get away with different colours in your cabinetry. While pairing a stainless steel worktop with an all-white run of cabinets might look a touch cold or sterile, copper worktops immediately balance out the crispness of a white palette. Should I include a kitchen island?

Why choose a metal worktop?

Copper sheets will need cutting and shaping to fit the installation and can then be fixed into place using adhesive or fixings. We absolutely can’t get enough of kitchens and eating areas with wood-effect designs – particularly when accented with copper! If your project requires multiple copper sheets , we will age them together to create the closest possible match between them.
