About this deal

Keenan has gained Laia’s full trust. She wants him to feel like family and so gives him her silver armlet. Keenan melts away, and only the Nightbringer is left. Keenan has been her enemy and has wanted the armlet all along, though he had to find a way to get her to give it to him freely. The armlet is made of pure silver starlight and is one of thousands of pieces that he has been collecting over countless years. With them, he can free his kin who are the same Jinn that are trapped in the Waiting forest that Elias visits often.

A Torch Against the Night Summary | SuperSummary

When I say superficial, it's not just that people keep falling for each other, it's just that they fall, move on, fall again, and cycle again. I mean Keenan hated your guts then pledged his all undying love for you two second later and that didn't surprise you one bit? Even better, while mooning over him you start becoming infatuated with the son of the Enemy? All the while whining about how tough life is? Really? By far, the most compelling aspects of this continuation are the villains. The Commandant manages to upgrade her bitch title to the one of ultimate bitch. I swear, I haven't read such a beautifully written bad character in a long time, one that thrives on power and bloodshed, on gore and brutality and perennial violence. It was fascinating and utterly horrifying to witness how easily she can make a whole nation crumble. Laia. Her naivete comes this moment about with bigger impacts in addition to an unusual expedition that likewise I had no tip was probably to take place. I had numerous ideas as well as likewise at one aspect I thought I had really exposed the fact as well as likewise a little reprimanded Tahir for doing something adage. Yet no chance! I was happily confirmed incorrect. I see it for a moment. Pain. Suffering. Horror. All that I love, all that matters to me, awash in blood. The world building in this book was so much better than book 1, probably because you see more of it. The characters got a lot more fleshed out, especially Helene, and I'm so glad they did.A heart-pounding story of love and loss, with the most original world-building I’ve read all year. Deeply felt and deeply moving, I could not put it down.”— Margaret Stohl,New York Timesbestselling co-author ofBeautiful Creatures This second book provided a deeper look into the events that led up to the rise of the Martial Empire. The details were very enlightening and cast a different light on current events. It became clear that there were far more players and influences than were previously known. So I did have fairly high expectations going into this one. The first book in the series was very good, and although it did replicate many of the tropes we keep seeing across the young adult genre, it did have a fair bit of originality. The world was based on Ancient Rome reworked with some fantasy elements. I liked it. It had a solid definition before the plot began. This one began in a very different way. It was much faster, for one, but that’s not always a good thing: it felt like plot had been sacrificed for action. Helene shuts the city down in the Emperor’s name. She finds Elias and confronts him with his fate. Elias wonders how Helene became such an evil and bitter person. She admits that it is all an act. If she doesn’t obey Emperor Marcus, he will kill her whole family. Elias promises to protect Helene and her family if she defects to the rebel cause. Helene comes across Laia and helps her. Helene then goes to warn Marcus about the Commandant and the scholar thing. Harper changes his mind about killing Helene for the Commandant. Helene realises that the Commandant is working with the Nightbringer.

A Torch Against the Night: Book 2 (Ember Quartet)

Me and Elias are alike. I will not begin to explain why, because it’ll be long, but our personality is similar.Siobhan was lovely and sent me bunch of photos of her map-abundant Canadian edition and I am forever in her debt. Laia is determined to break into Kauf—the Empire’s most secure and dangerous prison—to save her brother, who is the key to the Scholars' survival. And Elias is determined to help Laia succeed, even if it means giving up his last chance at freedom. After that there is the Blood Shrike. Helene. The internal battle of soldier versus her human compassion pits her on a regular basis up in arms with what she is anticipated to do versus what her sensations educate her. Ultimately she manages a life- altering min that defines what kind of individual she will absolutely prefer leaving the fires. It looks like the soldier might win.
