I'm trying to give books a real chance before DNF'ing, but I'm not sure I can stay in this character's head anymore. It tries overly hard to be funny, and if you look too deeply, it can be cringe or overly exaggerated snark because the humour of these characters only exists to this level of quick-wittedness or funny in movies and books. This grossly oversimplified understanding has created many complexities in our lives and taken away from us the very fundamentals of the joy of living. Their participation in the story was well-balanced, and their dynamic played out perfectly, even better than I have envisioned.I might have totally judged the book by its cover and thought I was getting something cutesy and not overly smutty. New and familiar characters abound, voiced by a bright mix of performers, including Kat Dennings, Regé-Jean Page, Emma Corrin, Michael Sheen, Kristen Schaal, Brian Cox, John Lithgow, Jeffrey Wright, and so many more, including fan-favorite narrators Simon Vance and Ray Porter. i can get bored with repetitive sex scenes but these felt unique and the character dialogue had me giggling. Bringing their own unique and counter-balanced personalities to proceedings they ask questions such as: what is happiness? The only thing I wanted and didn’t get was more insight into Crew and Eleanor’s minds when they realized they actually loved each other, and more after they get back together.
