About this deal

Ya no es policía, digamos que es una suerte de investigador privado con muchos amigos en la policía que husmea e investiga más o menos a su aire para descubir a un nuevo asesino en serie.

The synopsis said: “In the wake of his parents’ tragic deaths in a house fire, 14-year-old Richard Elauved has been sent to live with his aunt and uncle in the remote, insular town of Ballantyne. This is not only a conniving killer, but one who is ruthless in their treatment of victims, happy to exact brutal pain and suffering, all in the name of an unknown motive.Still, the novel is entertaining as we watch Harry and a rogue team he has assembled — a former colleague dying of cancer, a cab driver, and a disgraced police detective among them — try to outwit and outsmart the person who has taken unusual trophies from his victims: their eyes and their brains. The series began in 1997 with the Bat, and includes the Cockroaches (1998), the Redbreast (2000), Nemesis (2002), Devil's Star (2003), the Redeemer (2005), the Snowman (2007), the Leopard (2009), Phantom (2012), Police (2013), the Thirst (2017), and Knife (2019). Whilst most violence is kept off the page, the intent behind what occurs is quite obvious and by the time we are brought right up to speed with what is happening, I was prepared, if still a little green around the gills.

Drinking himself to death in LA, decides to postpone his demise by trying to save a has-been actress.

Yes, as with all books mid to late series, you have to accept that there will be some spoilers along the way. Not one to make friends easily, Richard has earned the reputation of school outcast for his merciless bullying and deviant behavior. Although some of the scenes are told from the point of view of our perpetrator, Prim, we never quite get a handle on who Prim (as we soon learn, only a nickname) really is. The only ally Richard has is Karen, a fellow outsider and crush, who encourages him to pursue clues the police refuse to investigate.

When bad stuff started happening around him, it was hard for me to care enough to sympathize with him.I seriously had a hard time getting th It’s a woman in need, a woman who reminds him of his mother and in trying to save her he actually saves himself.
