About this deal

Towards the end, it is clear that Koduka starts to question if she has feelings for Hara, as she realizes after their kiss that she enjoyed it.

Her landlady proposes an unusual solution: sleep with her, and she’ll help with the debt, the filthy apartment, and the loneliness. Koduka is a disaster - she is clearly grappling with depression after her job went sideways and everything about her life has fallen down in the meantime. I will admit; I am not the type for romance anime/ manga; however, most of those I read in the past were the same old High School tropes of characters, here it feels much different and you actually start to see the seeds of what is to blossom. I picked this up because of the premise was different and the characters were older instead of high school. As much as the tension was really nice, i felt the story was getting boring with them doing the same thing.Firstly the artwork is fantastic, story's a little unconventional but original and interesting, really fell in love with the main characters and ended up really rooting for them, how the artist can portray emotion is amazing.

I know this will most likely never ever see the light of day for an anime adaptation, but a queer can dream! It’s always great to see a yuri book that doesn’t shy away from lesbian issues and Landlady has an absolutely awkward encounter at the mall that features some nasty prejudice (beware the well-meaning, yet ignorant high school acquaintance) and features Koduka both standing up for a friend, yet also being forced to confront some truths about herself. So when Landlady offers her this extensive favour system to provide ongoing debt relief for services of any kind, not just sexual, Koduka says yes and gets a roomie in the bargain (which may not make sense on paper, but I assure you this might be the only manga where this actually makes a modicum of sense to occur). Regardless of the terrible reasoning of a 19 year old landlady using sexual favors as a means to pay back rent (although she often marks off parts of the debt for non intimate reasons too) I do like the chemistry between the landlady and Chiyo as they begin to do more together and fill the gaps they find lacking in their own lives as Chiyo discovers herself trying to be there more for the landlady as best she can. The Landlady also seems more put together than Koduka, such as cleaning and cooking, which one wouldn't expected mostly because Koduka is older. If you get chance to get your hands on a copy of this and the next two volumes I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
