About this deal

My Arabic is not what it was (and it was rubbish), but I understand the script well enough, and it does add a layer of interest to have so much reading material available on every surface. It's been and remains a kind of emblem of something that Europe has lost (wisdom, decadence, religious insight, high romance – it all depends on the eye of the beholder), and that is why it's been such a potent source of Gothic folklore, though this apparently makes things difficult for the historian. Rating: 9/10 Synopsis: A fast-paced, riveting read, with writing that leaps off the page and one of the most compelling magic systems I’ve encountered in years, this is a must for fantasy fans! This is quite some put-down coming from the author of Prayer-Cushions of the Flesh, which is pure Orientalist fantasy! It spends lots of time talking about previous authors and visitors, almost like a travelogue only the travel is through the past and through writing instead of being a literal trip.

Some I have taken directly from books I have written and others have flowed from the imagination down through the pen. This radical essay explores patriarchy and capitalism’s impact on beauty ideals, and inspires us to embrace our own disobedient bodies. This is a used book - there is no escaping the fact it has been read by someone else and it will show signs of wear and previous use. A readable and intelligent assessment of the Alhambra as a set of buildings, icon, and historical link to a Muslim Spain.

Correctly viewed, the Alhambra, like many other Islamic monuments, is as much a masterpiece of mathematics as it is of art.

Stolen as a child and raised to kill and die for the empire, her only loyalty is to her fellow conscripts. A penniless drifter, Connor has survived the last eight years alone in a cursed woodland teeming with monsters that eat grown men whole. A group of rebel Monarchists free her from indentured servitude and take her on a journey to rescue trapped compatriots from an underground complex of mines.I was hoping for a history, and it does include that, but just scattered amongst the place descriptions. Provides a detailed but succinct history of the Alhambra and some of the people who ruled from there and others who eventually took over in Granada. Since you won't get anything at Alhambra itself (unless you get the tour guide or audio guide), you will need some kind of reference to help you navigate around. Even the palace itself, as seen today, is only what is left after alterations made by the Catholic kings when they took the place over from the last Moorish king in 1492, followed by centuries of abandonment, major damage from an explosion, and successive often misguided "restorations. Rating: 10/10 An imaginative and sprawling epic fantasy reimagining of the Mongol Empire’s invasion of Persia, following the lives and treacherous journeys of four key figures in the heart of war.
