About this deal

We were particularly happy with its extremely sturdy frame, ceramic coated glass bed, direct drive extruder and quiet fans, which resulted in quick, high-quality 3D prints while being amongst the quietest printers we have tested.

I can currently run the hot-end at 300C pretty easily, but there’ll be some pucker factor running a print at 350+, that said, my “day job” involves constant work with steel at ~1300C, so, a walk in the park in terms of danger.

Overall, it’s still an average, usable setup, it’s just that there’s no point in this being an E3D knockoff when you don’t get most of the benefits of the original.

The main difference between the CR-10 and the Artillery X1 is the direct drive extruder, for which it will be necessary to reduce the shrinkage value from 5mm for the CR-10 to 1mm for the X1. This machine is not equipped with a self-levelling sensor, and the “ultrabase” plate is glued to the platen (difficult to replace). The STL was sliced using a modified Filament Frenzy profile for Simplify 3D that can be downloaded from here. The 220v plate is insulated, which should allow a much faster heating and a more stable temperature. The higher flow-rates allow faster printing since the hot-end can deliver higher flows of liquid filament to the printing operation.

I also followed many of the instructions on the following site when I opened the box, and the tuning of the v-slot wheels really helped me get it running smoothly.Happy that i managed to fix the issues, I wanted to do a big print, and started the Thanos Bust from MyMiniFactory in Devil Design Gray PLA with 0. If you upgrade from a Bowden style, you will notice a bit of rigging and ghosting due to the heavy direct drive. We don’t guarantee, however, that our suggestions will work best for each individual or business, so consider your unique needs when choosing products and services. With a reliable, quality print performance, a heated bed that gets up to temperature with speed and consistency, and electronics such as fans and boards that keep silent while you print, the Sidewinder X1 is a powerful investment in any makerspace.
