As Elsa’s memories begin to unlock, her own tortured past begins to reveal itself, and both characters find their pasts inexplicably intertwined. She was so strong and resilient and even though she was getting bullied too, she tried her best to protect Kim. Only, the possibility of having Fiona is stripped away when Tiernan is thrust into the one role he never wanted: king.
The ultimate ending of Aiden and Elsa’s story ticked off all of my boxes, except for some backstory questions with which I’ve been struggling. Each character brings their own unique flavor to the story, adding depth and complexity to the narrative. Twisted Kingdom opened up Aiden King’s black heart, and I felt he had a wealth of character depth–but it served to prove to me that Elsa is a fickle and fairweather girlfriend who I couldn’t support. Not only is the story-line absolutely gripping in and of itself, but the sexiness is off the charts!She spends her private days in London laughing like an evil mastermind about adding mayhem to her expanding universe. I never understand bully romances where the heroine just decides to blindly trust the person who has bullied her and tortured her for two years. Deviant King by Rina Kent is a dark high school bully romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Shane East and Keira Stevens.
Whether light or shadow, the fae are a far cry from fairy tales, and now they’ve made Bryn a pawn in their dark games for power. She is strong and confident, scared and fearless, clear headed and confused and most of all full of hate and loving. Without even being aware of her delectability Elsa has been an item on Aiden King’s menu from the start. I DEVOURED the trilogy in a mere two days and immediately hopped into the spin-off titled Cruel King (which, by the way, was equally delicious).In the whole book, Aiden sexually assaulted Elsa, and he continuously tries to prove she is a masochist.
He doesn’t belong in a school that only accepts one percent of the iNteLliGent students (umm, this school needs to conduct a serious reevaluation). Living with her aunt and uncle, she’s used to blending in the background, and hiding her emotions because that makes her feel more in control. It's actually so hot that it's one of those books that I had difficulty listening to on a break at work or around others at my home (even with headphones on, of course) because it's the kind of book that will get you hot and bothered with no remorse and you will be so engaged in what's happening that you're lost to it and don't realize you're fanning yourself until your boyfriend or husband gives you a funny look. Readers, together with Elsa, are forced to witness Elsa become a ‘real girl’ through each painful interaction with the monster that is Aiden King. His fingers are back to my bra again, but instead of tracing like earlier, his thumb and forefinger latch onto my pebbled nipple through the cloth and he pinches.
It didn’t help when Aiden threatened her during their first ever interaction in front of their peers. Shane East is one of my favorite narrators- he does an amazing job with emotions, pacing, and he has a perfect voice for Aiden (I've actually been in a Shane East audiobook binge and he's perfect for all the characters he plays because he kind of just has the perfect voice and accent. I can't wait to open the next book and have more uncovered and find out the true extent of the devious, calculated extremes of the whole revenge plot!
