About this deal

So I'd like to take some time to clarify where the DT880's signature stands in relation to other headphones. But overall its a smooth presentation that is very relaxing and with the desired energy and sparkle for my personal enjoyment albeit the 9khz peak and is quite resolving with a great sense of detail. My difficulty in loving the DT 880 is the high-end, which tends to be unnaturally piercing and sharp. The audio is generally transferred via a generic USB cable to a DAC, using WASAPI - event style on JRiver's MC17 ( buffering from the RAM) .

size=medium] The DT880 is a very comfortable, sturdy headphone, with a wonderfully neutral, airy sound and beautifully crisp detail. V shaped, no actually theres are one of the most balanced cans, what your enjoying is a very balanced sound signiture. On the other hand, the Beyerdynamic have a significantly better build quality and come with a soft case to protect them from minor scratches and splashes. This makes the sound of the Treble on these headphones noticeably bright, and they could sound a bit harsh on overly bright tracks. The DT880 Pro 250 ohm is a semi-open circumaural head-phone which Beyerdynamic market for monitoring. Moreover, due to its tuning, bass quantity can be scarce for some making it feel quite anemic however that is not in my case as I do really quite like the presentation of the bass that is less boomy but tight and fast.

The DT880s will be better for electronic music than the Q701s when amplified properly, but as an analytical headphone with still some musicality goes, the Q701 is hands down better. However, for critical listening, I do believe its soundstage and imaging are not quite spot on rather it is highlighted clearly. It blocks external sounds to creep in and vice versa, but it doesn't sound nearly as nice as the DT880. size=small] The soundstage is very well layered and offers a lot of detail and separation of the various instruments.I have heard the DT880's detail described as over-sharpened, or artificial, but I struggle to feel that while listening. Most who have done side by side comparisons of the 250 and 600 ohm models find that they sound the same, yet the 600 ohm model has a reputation for being the best sounding, likely because the people using it are pairing it with higher end amps, or possibly just because of "placebo effect". Connectors not only wear out, but can sometimes affect sound when moving around or not securely fastened. When compared to HD600, DT880 is clearly inferior in design, one can observe the headbands, wiring connection methods and fixed cable. They're not meant to be used while exercising or running, and the non-detachable cable is cumbersome and will yank the headphones off your head if it gets hooked on something.
