About this deal

Storytelling is absolutely wonderful, the story is very well structured and executed, and all the characters are believable and lifelike in their dealings with life in general and in their professions as police officers.

Dying Light is the second book in the Stuart MacBride penned Logan McRae series and maintains if not betters the standard set in the first. Logan McRae is a talented, well intentioned policeman who seems to manage to not quite stuff things up.Swearing, smoking, eating, more swearing, pornography, swearing, drinking endless plastic cups of tea. Logan, on the other hand will do just about whatever it takes to get out of this squad and back into his former squad. I wonder what the people of Aberdeen feel about having their city and their police force portrayed in such a grim light. Requires ePub-compatible e-book reader with ADEPT DRM (eg Sony Reader hardware or Adobe Digital Editions software), and internet connection to purchase --This text refers to an alternate kindle_edition edition.

Summertime in the Granite City, the sun is shining, the sky is blue, and the morgue is getting crowded: burnt bodies, murdered junkies, dismembered Labradors, and battered prostitutes. Meanwhile, someone has nailed shut the doors of a drug den and set fire to the building, killing the six people inside. So if DCI Steel keeps stealing credit for what she has not done, then why is she still in charge of the screw up squad? For DS Logan McRae it’s a bad start to another bad day; no longer the golden boy of Grampian Police he’s been palmed off on a DI everyone knows is a jinx, waiting for the axe to fall with all the other rejects in the ‘Screw-Up Squad’.After a police raid ended badly, DS Logan McRae has been demoted to the “Screw Up” squad under the supervision of DI Steel, a chain-smoking, hard-assed lesbian. Finally, the best murder mysteries are ones in which the reader cares about the victims an/or the investigators and/or is interested in the twists and revelations. Well, that just slows the plot down and makes me want to skip pages until we get back to what the plot actually is. Logan is a compelling protagonist who escapes the faults given to so many fictional police heroes, that of despair, drunkenness, and/or complete cynicism.

I am a fan of Stuart MacBride, and usually scarf up his books with delight, but with this one it has to be said that the constant trouble with his superiors is taking too much time away from the plot. Logan McRae has been shifted sideways into the "screw up squad" after an operation he recently led went disastrously pear-shaped. This fast-paced and action-packed crime novel is the 2nd volume of the captivating "Logan McRae" thriller series by Stuart MacBride. The author has some reoccurring characters, And each of them have some growth and he paints some ever increasing depth to all of them.

He's determined to escape DI Steel and her unconventional methods, and the best way to do that is to crack the case in double-quick time.

It begins with Rosie Williams, stripped naked and beaten to death down by the docks – the heart of Aberdeen’s red light district. Not that there is no humour- the author has the ability to bring an ironic touch to the darkest scenes - but this is not a crime novel for the faint hearted. Pradžioje man ši knyga skaitėsi truputį sunkokai, bet kuo toliau skaitant, tuo labiau ji mane įtraukė. Steele has every intention of using Logan for whatever means is at her disposal to get herself some fame and glory and on to better pastures than the “fuck-up squad. Describes a book or dust jacket that does show some signs of wear on either the binding, dust jacket or pages. There were so many sub-plots, interwoven cases and excellent twists, it honestly felt half its length. Logan McRae is a likeable character but has a lot to put up with as he's constantly pulled between two senior officers, trying to solve several different cases including a serial killer who's beating and murdering prostitutes.
