About this deal

Richard's ongoing affair with Queenie, a woman who is easily led, gives him the power he doesn't have at home. All I know is I'm definitely excited to check out another comic by him and that you should definitely check out this one. Slam Bradley has been one step behind the kidnappers the entire time… can he turn the tables in time to save the infant heiress to the Wayne fortune?

Constance is shown to have taken full control of the situation, and simply continues talking how he lies dead on the floor. The warm color tones in the beginning seemed in conflict with the jaded detective narration that were overlaid on top of them. The purpose and intent get lost in what began as a fantastic story which oftentimes appears to be King's M. and so begins a brutal, hard-boiled, epic tale of a man living on the edge and a city about to burn.Una historia sobre el pasado de la familia Wayne donde un joven Bradley, se enfrenta al secuestro del bebé de Richard y Constantine Wayne en un ambiente clásico de novela negra policíaca. The final reveal about what happened to Helen hurts worse than any of the other accusations and theories throughout the book. However, when Sam finds Helen buried in James Lydell's backyard and Queenie reappears, proclaiming her innocence, the perpetrator is unclear. Tom King is hit or miss for me but I like Phil Hester and Jordie Bellaire so I was quick to pick this up and it did not disappoint.

Whites are described as rioting racists wanting only to do with people of the same complexity, while others are benign and logical in motivation. This comic is as visually hard-boiled as they come, so if you're in the mood for rough detectives stalking the mean streets of a city gone sour, you'll enjoy the art. This series doubles down on that corniness by having the kidnapper use a bat symbol on the ransom letters and being referred to as the Bat-Man. The cesspool of crime of the DC Universe, but Tom King theorizes that it was once a thriving haven and wasn’t always synonymous with crime. Slam Bradley isn't a name you hear all that often (unless you're a Weird Science podcast devotee, as all good comic fans are), so it came as a surprise when the announcement dropped about a Slam Bradley series written by Tom King. Tom King is stricken with the white guilt disease and has decided to bring Gotham City and Batman down with him.

In Gotham City Year One, Phil and I will take you to a noir drenched past, where the secrets that made Gotham become Gotham, the sins that made Batman become Batman are finally and violently revealed. There are some weird race-related elements that hurt the final issue, but this was a rewarding ending to the series. Constance Wayne is perhaps the biggest example, being a cold, calculating femme fatale through and through.

Slam Bradley, no matter how his character is modified in this series, that modification doesn't really change anything, even though it really should. It makes sense whenever stories are issue-based, and I think I'm just too used to movie pacing and getting to get a feel for the world and the characters and the tone before jumping into the meat of the story since I've been watching a lot of movies lately, but it still bothered me. Also, one of my least favorite Batman continuity implants was having Bruce Wayne's father, Thomas, wearing a Batman costume the Halloween before his death.

Jordie Bellaire’s colors really shine here, as stark, pale depictions of Slam highlight the reds of the fire and blood. My only complaint with the art of this issue is the opening fight scene, which is confusingly juxtaposed with the chaos of rioters in the streets of Gotham.
