About this deal

pero qué capacidad de Chase para conseguir que este mujeriego, manipulador, mentiroso, bruto y, en muchas ocasiones, canalla en el mal sentido de la palabra. The story, the witty dialogue, the oh-so-complicated hero, the take-no-guff heroine, the whole love/hate thing between the H/h--it was at times funny, sad, frustrating, but there was never a dull moment.

It could've used a little more excitement but then again, the lack of stress was also the reason I enjoyed this so much. I was living for this story, and Chase hit all the perfect beats to develop a fantastic romance while also bringing the emotions and some fun, over-the-top schemes. As an adult, he lived a life of selfish pleasure, spending his time with women who he could pay for his pleasure, thinking no woman would want him voluntarily. It got better, the back and forth banter and my favorite scene when she ran out of his house and he chased her down the street and there's a rainstorm, and she bashed his chest with her wilted hat until he gave in and kissed her. One of my many favorite scenes is when Dain acknowledges his illegitimate son, knowing he loves him, even though he is just as ugly as Dain was as a child, and is filthy and covered in vomit.

To her surprise, Dain converts this proposition into a marriage proposal, and they are wedded in London several weeks later.

I liked her writing style, as it was fun, in your face, quite funny, very witty, with some historical inaccuracies and some modern turn of phrases with a little bit of Old testament flavour (all of which I am willing to ignore). This book was written over 25 years ago, and I dare anyone to try to say that Jessica Trent isn't the most bad-ass heroine out there. Jessica again takes the initiative and forces Dain to accept responsibility for the boy and come to terms with his painful childhood. The scenes between Dain and Jessica are so delicious, it's like eating a banana split with a cheesecake chaser. I’m trying to be more frugal with my book spending, so leaving it behind was probably the right choice (even if it is so pretty!

Also he can speak Italian any hour of the day, preferably on the ones whilst he’s seeing to the flooding bit. After the wedding and a tense honeymoon trip to Dain’s ancestral home in Devon, Jessica realizes that Dain’s troubled childhood makes him distrustful of her ardent attentions and Dain is wary of letting his guard down and showing how much he truly cares for his wife.He consciously uses his monstrousness in the same way he uses his vast wealth and his social position: to control his world and protect himself. It was no surprise that a book that pushed so many peoples' happy buttons ended up winning a RITA that year. In her entry for The Bloomsbury Introduction to Popular Fiction, Maryan Wherry posits that Lord of Scoundrels represents a modern retelling of the classic fairytale Beauty and the Beast, suggesting Chase's story is a morality tale of "restoring humanity" that is directed at "all levels of society" (rather than at the lower classes as classic fairytales were intended).

El libro ya lo había leído en ebook y es uno de mis favoritos, así que cuando lo vi de segunda mano a buen precio tuve que comprarlo. The only explanation I could find for it, aside from her skillful writing, was the fact that Jessica was the best and the perfect heroine for Dain.
