Big Block Singsong is a fun and entertaining animated musical short format series which currently airs on Disney and CBC TV. This is a Region 1 (USA and Canada) DVD and will only play in Australia and New Zealand if you have a MULTI-REGION DVD player or a Region 1 DVD player. I liked the fact that the songs were both fun and educational, encouraging the girls to think more about their feelings or their favourite animals or just what sort of nose fits on their face. The videos are inherently humorous (it’s a square monkey, after all), but the lyrics sometimes offer opportunities for visual jokes.

My 19 month old will stop what she's doing to watch these and now I don't have to scour YouTube for them! Turns out that the delightful series of 2-minute music videos date back to 2009, when Canadian illustrator Warren Brown and composer Adam Goddard (now Goddard/Brown) first unleashed Big Box Singsong, as it was then known, onto the world.

Overall, this was a fun DVD that held the attention of all three girls, from Jade (20 months) to Sunshine (almost 7). One the first sentences my (now) 2 year old learned was "Big Block Singsong" and it got/gets uttered often. The DVD features 24 animated Big Block Singsong music videos from Season 1 of this international hit!Your child will have fun cutting out, colouring, and building a Princess Danger, Octopus Dangler, or Noses Dangler to sit on a shelf or table. This is the kind of show that kids will want to watch again and again, because it’s fun and makes you feel happy inside. You don’t need the visuals to enjoy the music, but there are definitely some videos (“Sleep,” for one) that add an extra layer of enjoyment.
