The Spectrum allows to check the tonal balance of the music (balance between treble, medium and bass sounds) and to detect process that may have been carried out during the recording, the mixing, mastering or manufacturing phases. The band enjoyed great success during the 1980s and 1990s, with singles such as ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’, ‘People Are People’, ‘Personal Jesus’ and ‘Enjoy the Silence’.

This process likely began back in the 1950s with Rudy Van Gelder, who left his beloved “RVG” seal of approval in the runout grooves of many classic albums on Blue Note, Prestige, and other vintage labels. Bottom line — the wonderful listening vibes Memento Mori evokes, and what they in turn inspire in listeners like me, are all very good things indeed. The band's progression in their latest years have heard them move into darker, peakier, sadder and more industrial themes, as they make do with a future-present that wasn't promised to them in the 80s, while drawing on deathly topoi and nodding to Ingmar Bergman.

Strange/Strange Too will be released through SME worldwide, excluding USA, Canada and Mexico (where the title will be released through Warner Music Group). I would have rather they included more songs on Side 4, or at least a few remixes, to give fans some better value here.
