About this deal

I think that it is easy to forget about what hunger means and the fact that there is almost always something underlying hunger. If you do find yourself tipping into a hangry state, resist the temptation to reach for a sugar fix or for highly processed refined carb snacks like chips, pretzels, cookies or muffins. While this took me longer than what I wanted it to, this is definitely going to be a book I permanently add into my collection.

While it did offer tips to combat "hanger", it could've been summarized into a 30 page book instead of a 200+ page book. She just emphasizes the importance of being mindful of what your mood is like after you eat and how your body feels to best determine what foods benefit you most.Seuss ------ Eric Carle ------ Ernest Hemingway ------ Rebel Girls ------ Rick Riordan ------ Roald Dahl ------ Shakespeare ------ Todd Parr --- Popular Series ------ Curious George ------ Diary of a Wimpy Kid ------ Fancy Nancy ------ Harry Potter ------ I Survived ------ If You Give. There are lots of practical suggestions and interactive check lists to figure out which habits are causing you concern without being restrictive or using willpower. I would have preferred more straightforward language and fewer acronyms, exclamation points, and wordplay attempts. I am personally a behavioral therapist so I was already familiar with much of the info, and was happy with it being so well-sourced and aligned with modern developments and methods of behavioral psychology. Adler's writing style is great and the topics/issues she covers in this book are really interesting.

I enjoyed the way it broke down the different categories and situations, but didn’t feel like you were reading for your gen ed classes in college. Hanger Management is perhaps the most crucial element for organization and mobilization in the retail environment. It's definitely one of the best self-help / health and wellness books I've ever read and I'm so thankful I have this in my collection. You may have both hands on the steering wheel, but chances are they’re veering you toward Exit 43 for some Chili’s mozzarella sticks—if you don’t rear end the vehicle in front of you first.

For example, I never knew that you can make tea out of a banana, or that said tea can actually make you fall asleep faster. The author Susan Albers captures the "Hanger" part of this book in a beautiful way and I especially love that the author works at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. I also think that given the format of the book, it would've helped quite a bit to have some charts at the end summarizing/listing all of the tips. By learning to stay on top of your hunger cues, cultivating a better understanding of your appetite, and creating a better overall relationship with food, you'll become happier - and healthier - for life. This book teaches you exactly what you can eat that gives you more energy and fills you up for a longer time than what you're used to eating, so that you can go longer with out getting hungry.

It is not a replacement for a thorough examination and consultation from a licensed health professional.Bottom line: our hungry bodies are sending out a cascade of SOS signals via our internal biochemistry! In many cases people get hungry, moody and scattered because they have simply let too much time pass since their last meal, or made a less-than-ideal choice that hasn't provided what their body needs to see them through. Albers asks the earlier question about understanding hanger, where it comes from in each person, and how to tackle it.

I appreciated understanding the scientific aspect of how hanger happens, and it was interesting to read about all the reasons that might cause us to reach for food.Susan Albers, PsyD, is a New York Times bestselling author and a clinical psychologist at the Cleveland Clinic. She graduated from the University of Denver, completed an internship at the University of Notre Dame and was a post-doctoral fellow at Stanford University.
