I’ve tried both the microwave method and mains method, and now I use it solely on the mains base and it sits permanently on the side. My microwave is a standard size and most people will have purchased a microwave before a steriliser so it might be best not to advertise this as an option without clearly advertising that a large microwave would be necessary. Electric steam sterilisers are usually powered by a metal plate which heats to produce steam and is a highly effective way to kill bacteria without additional chemicals required. Simply add water and after three minutes in the microwave you have a sterilised botte - perfect for being out and about with baby or at home.

Hannah: The only thing I think that could be improved is providing a container to use to freeze either milk or first stage food so that the defrosting setting is consistent as in the instructions it is only a ‘guide’ based on the container used. On the whole, the instructions were clear, and the diagrams were helpful, but the print is a bit small and in pale grey. I found both the express (just 2 and a half minutes) and gentle bottle warming functions to be excellent, although I did think the food warming function was a little fiddly and took too long. Although I cannot use the microwave sterilising option, as I do not own a microwave, I am confident this could also be useful to many mums. We really planned on exclusively breastfeeding when our daughter was born, but circumstances beyond our control made that impossible. Also the products let off a lot of steam and can make the kitchen quite wet, I feel the bottle warmer needs a cover over it. I didn’t use it to warm breast milk but found the food warming setting way too hot (would be handy for defrosted frozen baby food). I am a fan of the steam steriliser as I do not need to worry about germs on my babies teething toys or bottles and it's a natural method to sterilise items.
