About this deal

Crucially, it reframes the conversation away from the medicalisation of trans people – such a small part of the trans experience – and shifts focus onto the real story, sheer humanity.

In this life-affirming and heartfelt book, the activist and model draws parallels between society and her own experiences – told through the lens of adolescence, sexuality, gender, relationships, identity and race – to bring us closer to a shared consciousness. At points though, especially if you have read a lot of other books on these topics, there is a slight lack of both depth and emotional connection. The Chalke History Festival announces a new name, new look, and tons for history buffs to get their teeth into! In 2019, Bergdorf was awarded an honorary doctorate for campaigning for transgender rights by the University of Brighton, and served as National Advocate for UN Women UK.We also use them to help detect unauthorized access or activity that violate our terms of service, as well as to analyze site traffic and performance for our own site improvement efforts. Each chapter is focused on a theme—'Adolescence', 'Love', 'Gender', 'Race' etc—and is mostly a memoir, with some parts moving more into guide and manifesto around the central theme of the idea that everyone transitions in some way. I felt deflated by my parents’ abandonment, and by the unsupportive and unhealthy romantic relationships I was having.
