About this deal

I hadn’t actually noticed before that it was a different version of ‘Opportunities’ (in fact I didn’t even know there was one, not being a big PSB fan) but that is another selling point for Now 7 which is a pretty good one. Queen had already appeared on volumes 2, 3, 4, 6 and the Christmas album so it was expected that A Kind Of Magic would feature on Now 7.

There’s also plenty of top quality one-hit-wonders of the era too, such as Owen Paul‘s ‘My Favourite Waste of Time’, Stan Ridgeway‘s ‘Camouflage’, Furniture‘s ‘Brilliant Mind’ and Nu Shooz‘s ‘I Can’t Wait’. By the autumn of 1986 the record companies were gradually coming around to considering compact discs as a optional format for various artists compilations. Released in association with the Official Chart Company to "celebrate 70 years of the official UK singles chart".Each release is issued as a limited edition mini-hardback book, with the CDs in sleeves forming the pages of the ' yearbook' which contains an introductory overview of the year, original 7" single artwork, trivia, chart positions and a quiz. Hearst UK is the trading name of the National Magazine Company Ltd, 30 Panton Street, Leicester Square, London, SW1Y 4AJ. Since the release of Now 102 in Easter 2019, the corresponding Now album from 100 volumes ago has been re-compiled and re-issued on 2-CD sets on the same day. Many of these artists have gone on to become global superstars such as Billie Eilish, Shawn Mendes, Walk The Moon, Maggie Rogers, Rae Sremmurd, Zara Larsson, Jacob Whitesides, and Tate McRae. Storch ( producer) publisher: Aint Nuthin' Goin'On But F****' Music, Blackjack Entertainment, Blondie Rockwell Publishing, Dead Game Publishing, Elvismambo Music, Fivecard, Music of Windswept, Scott Storch Music, TVT ( copyright holder, no releases here please) and WB Music Corp.

Maybe the thing that stops this reissue being a complete disaster is some of the mixes that were expected to be wrong are actually correct although not all. You can bet if Now 7 ever got a CD release that the version of Opportunities used would not be this one. Each album is meticulously curated to encompass a dynamic blend of chart-topping hits and hidden gems, offering listeners a diverse musical experience. One of them starts the second side – Chris De Burgh’s Lady In Red – which was still climbing the charts as the sleeve went to press. Due to licensing issues, these re-compiled versions often use alternative mixes such as album versions.Simple Minds and Billy Ocean both appear in shorter edits that have appeared in the intervening years. Some of the Special Editions have identical names, although a few of these titles are followed by their year of release.

I'm assuming it's due to copyright restrictions that we aren't seeing the original versions or line ups on these reissues. Condition - This item is in Excellent condition or better (unless it says otherwise in the above description). The Now Yearbook series also releases a vinyl selection of its primary release, with an Extra round-up vinyl boxset featuring tracks from the CD-only series, released at the end of 2022. The frequency in which they were released also varied from year to year; initially, and most frequently across the series, there would be one Now Dance volume per year, but in 1994 for example, there were four volumes released, and in 1996, there weren't any Now Dance compilations released. it doesn’t have the promo mix of ‘Opportunities (Let’s Make Lots Of Money)’ 3:20, it’s the (Full Length Original Seven-Inch) 4:37.

According to our music teacher at the time, they had compiled the album and had all the sleeves and inlay cards pressed, when Queen stepped forward and said: “Hang on! Simple Minds – All The Things She Said is the edit 4:00, instead of the album mix 4:15, which was on the original Now LP. Nu Shooz - I Can't Wait: Great synth riff, more on which later as it was sampled in a track on a later Now! Through the release of Now 90 on 30 March 2015, the release date in Ireland was three days before the UK release.I don't have a super expensive hifi system or claim to have perfect hearing but I find this CD seems to sound sharper (glassier) than the LP I have. The Special Editions series includes a wide range of Now anniversary collections, different music genres, eras, and decades, as well as commercial tie-ins with Smash Hits, Disney, Eurovision, HMV and the Official Chart Company. While other countries had started truncated CD releases a couple of years earlier, their selections also could be a little random. Towards the end of the series, 3-CD digipak sets were issued, but in 2010, the long-running title was retired, and all subsequent dance-themed Now collections have been issued under the Special Editions series. The first Now album had the whole year to choose from but there was only a limited period of time to compile Now 2 and a more limited pool of tracks.
