About this deal

Charging case’s deep-UV LED sterilization system (with unique mirror processing) eliminates bacteria and viruses from the surface of the headphones**. However, while these earbuds definitely have some of that bulky influence, there’s something distinctly modern to their aesthetic. Not only do the ATH-TWX9 earphones deliver exceptional sound quality, but they also offer a realistic 3D soundstage that will transport you to your favorite music. Isolated accents were emphasised without imposing themselves, and sibilants were discreetly rounded off with benign indulgence, all most conducive to listening pleasure.

With their subtle, satin metallic accents and discreet Audio-Technica logos, the earbuds pull off a tricky balancing act by looking both sleek and sophisticated. Audio Technica has a few true wireless earphones already, but nothing like their newest flagship release. The ATH-TWX9 doesn’t feature fast charging, so if you drain the earbuds totally, you’ll have to wait around two and a half hours before they’re topped up again. Creating an intimate sound space has become one of the main goals of premium next-generation headphones. The relative underemphasis in the upper midrange from 2-5kHz also means some strings can come through a little indistinctly. Not quite neutral, but the frequency content has a clear presence without EQ, especially with standard clean bass guitar performances. Most wireless earbuds give you a single control interface — a touch/squeeze sensitive area or a physical button.

This is especially if you’re, like I am, a previous owner of earphones from the Tokyo-based company and like its sound signature. A selling point of the charging case is that it has built-in UV radiation that kills bacteria on the earbuds. drivers with an extended high-frequency range, but this requires 96kHz sampling via Snapdragon Sound technology. And for those concerned about what codec it is connecting over, the app lets you see that information too. However, I also took the AirPods Pro with me, and it was clear that the AirPods Pro had better active noise cancellation.

Sony had good audio quality, however the ANC never worked because the earbuds could never get a proper seal. Some things I wish could be better: I do wish the ANC was a bit stronger, but honestly, with music playing it's bliss.

Likewise, the hear-through feature, though also pretty convincing, doesn’t sound quite as realistic either, and I’m not sure if I could trust it entirely.and multipoint support for two simultaneous Bluetooth connections; Alexa and Google Assistant support; touch sensitivity; Qi charger support; and even a low latency mode for minimal delay when playing games.

It also stands out for having a five-level LED charging indicator on the front, which uses different colour LEDs to show the battery level of the earbuds and charging case. You can also turn on or off features like in-ear detection, low-latency mode, and sidetone, as well as adjust the touch sensor sensitivity and on-ear volume control (by default each button press will increase or decrease volume by 10%, but you can increase or decrease the size of that interval).Items that are outside the plus service are 'purchased free' from the wall by the manufacturer / supplier in question.
