As well as working with longtime collaborator Ian Masterson, Sara Dallin also co-wrote tracks with her daughter Alice Dallin-Walker, known professionally as Alice D. The album was originally conceived as an EP; however, following the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown beginning, the group began working towards creating a full album. The duo reunited with producer Ian Masterson, with whom they also worked on 2019's In Stereo – their highest-charting album since the late '80s – and 2009's Viva, home to the thumping club hit 'Love Comes'. To mark the album's announcement MASQUERADE, a new song Favourite is released today as a treat for fans.

The Unmasked Edition' comes as a double transparent pink vinyl with printed inner sleeve featuring the Masquerade album on Disc 1 and exclusive extended remixes from the likes of Shanghai Surprise, Cahill, Almighty, Lamentis, Sebastian Perez and Until Dawn on Disc 2.When we were all in lockdown, there were a lot of conversations happening to do with inclusivity, diversity and gender and racial equality," Sara explains.

Bananarama announced that two album launch shows would take place at London Lafayette on 3 and 4 August 2022.My 'favourite ' songs are Favourite, Masquerade, Velvet Lies , Stay Wild and Running with the Night. Bananarama have always had a way with a remake but Keren says it was especially gratifying to cover a song that "is just so personal to us".
