For maximum definition, work in smaller sections and apply a small amount while smoothing from roots to ends. Sit under a hooded dryer or allow to completely air dry, then release each section, finger styling into place. Curly hair creams are usually formulated to put moisture back into curls, helping to achieve smooth, frizz-free, glossy, defined curls. Yes, it can leave a little crunch - I just give a scrunch from underneath and it becomes lovely and soft.
