They say they are simply delicious, and the best cookies/biscuits to eat on its own or with a drink of hot. In Brazil, they are soaked in milk and then stacked in layers of chocolate and vanilla-flavoured custard cream, with whipped cream and crushed cashew nuts on top to make pavê, a popular Brazilian dessert. In the event of any safety concerns or for any other information about a product please carefully read any instructions provided on the label or packaging and contact the manufacturer.

A reminder of being with my Mum, enjoying these biscuits with one of her 'magical' pots of tea or milky coffee. Maria biscuits are popular all over the world, but particularly in Spain where they have been manufactured by Cuetara for generations. Line a loaf pan or cake tin with a large piece of glad wrap/cling film so that there is an over hang on all sides.A true symbol of home for many Spaniards, galletas 'Maria' are plain but sweet biscuits similar in character to the UK's 'Rich Tea' biscuits but slightly sweeter and with the addition of vanilla - the idea being that their plain style makes them great for dunking in tea or coffee.

Please always read the labels, warnings, and directions provided with the product before using or consuming a product. Marie cookies are crumbled or crushed for recipes nearly as often as they are enjoyed whole as cookies. Starting with the melted chocolate covered the bottom, then dunk each biscuit in the milk/rum liquid and place them on top, covering the chocolate. Generally inexpensive, you'll find single-serve packs of four to six cookies, rolls of about 30 cookies, and large boxes. Just like any country, Venezuela has its share of local desserts that are very uncommonly found anywhere else but there. Wheat flour, sugar, glucose syrup, vegetable oil, raising agents (sodium and ammonium bicarbonate), salt, emulsifier (lecithin), flavours, flour improver (sodium metabisulphite). The crispy round wafers have small holes and are pressed with decorative edging, often with Maria or Marie and the brand.
