About this deal

The emergence of digital and internet technologies has created new spaces for religious engagement and introduced alternative venues for community-building, identity construction, and religious practice for marginalized new religions. Introduced and edited by Jon Lange, who has been studying the works of Aleister Crowley for over forty years, the text has been reset, whilst remaining faithful to the original pagination, and plentiful notes have been provided along the way to help those readers who may not be so familiar with Leah Hirsig’s life or magic in general. Leah (Lea, para su familia) Hirsig (9 de abril de 1883 - 22 de febrero de 1975) fue una ocultista suizo-estadounidense, asociada con el también ocultista Aleister Crowley. So even though Crowley exerts a pull to this day, and not only on the credulous, I had only a mild curiosity about this book to start with. By June 1924, while Hirsig stayed loyal to Crowley during money troubles and painful surgeries for his asthma symptoms, the two of them found their relationship was suffering.

In an earlier diary entry from Cefalu, which has improbably never been commented on by any of Crowley’s biographers or followers (including the generally hostile John Symonds, who also edited the diary in question), Crowley launches into an unhinged, ether-and-cocaine– fueled screed in which he exults in how he and Hirsig have mutually debased each other, which includes a passage discussing the rape and torture of his and Hirsig’s children—a five-month-old girl (who died a few months later) and a two-year-old boy. The number of copies of the 'edition' is unknown, but obviously there could not have been many as it is extremely uncommon. Femininity has held a problematic position in feminist theory, often being associated with lack, artifice, and restriction. This essay outlines the history of the movement and its major theological landmarks, with particular emphasis on the substantive changes in the Family since the death of the founding Prophet in 1994. On March 13, 1926 her sister Marian Dockerill (born Anna Maria Hirsig), published her exposé on Aleister Crowley, " Oom the Omnipotent" and others in a series of articles which began running on this date in the New York Journal, titled "My Life in a Love Cult, A Warning to All Young Girls". Born on April 9, 1883 in Trachselwald, Switzerland, Leah grew up with her mother and five sisters in NYC from age 2.
