A game which fully utilizes the new features of the Switch 2 would probably not run especially well/at all on a Switch 1, but that's not what you should be expecting out of cross-gen games to begin with. If speculation is true that the next system won't really have a gimmick, I doubt we will see any new "welcome to Nintendo" launch games like Wii Sports or 1-2 Switch.

My thought - that I am not at all confident on, and not actually very interested in from a player perspective - is that between the split controllers with gyros, the Switch having its own screen due to being a handheld, a dock you can plug the screen into, and the rumoured additional camera on the screen for eye-tracking, the Switch 2 would be uniquely well-suited to having out-of-the-box VR with no additional barriers to entry. Like our home in Charlottesville, our AAA four-diamond country resort mingles the best with the best — classic with contemporary, refined with casual, tranquil with dynamic. I feel this is a massive hint that Nintendo intends to adopt the single SKU strategy because it will be the first title that gets true crossgen treatment -- meaning it comes with features and upgrades that required specific development time on the new device, not just resolution bumps or better performance because its running on better hardware. I think it would work out for them to release Mariokart 8 Deluxe on PC like in a few years when the next Mariokart Game will have released. Still I think the future for Switch 2 games is going to be incredible an we're all going to be very happy playing Nintendo's gorgeous first party games on this tiny beast.
They'd have to get a team together that can port their games to PC, that they could trust with their code. Millions more people now know about OLED as "the screen that's better than LCD" thanks to Nintendo, which is why I disagree with the takes about how only enthusiasts care about it. Question is, What could be that extra "thing" that keeps us on the hook if not a new generation tease?
