I also sprang for the Asurion 3-year coverage in case problems crop up that Canon won't address or I drop them, heaven forbid.However, looking at the photos, the unit reviewed appears to have been made in Japan versus the newer models which are made in Taiwan. The one downside is that after using these, my excellent 10x50s now seem WAY too shaky for hand-held use.
