About this deal

I used it all afternoon to look at birds around my lawn and passing aircraft as I only live about 5 miles from an airport and the traffic is often routed over my neighborhood. Fitted with their proprietary Vari-Angle prism electronic image stabilization system, the Canon 15x50 IS All-Weather Image Stabilized Binoculars are an ideal optic for bird and nature watching, marine use, or astronomical use.

I visited numerous open clusters including, but not limited to M41, M46/47, M48, NGC2451, M35, M36, M37, and M38. I currently have a pair of the 10x40 Swarovski poro prism binoculars and many others of various sizes. While IS binoculars can outperform larger hand-hold none-IS binoculars, for a fraction of IS binoculars cost one can still get a good quality large aperture conventional binoculars which when properly mounted will reach deeper on DSOs and offer better resolution for planets and lunar. I also sprang for the Asurion 3-year coverage in case problems crop up that Canon won't address or I drop them, heaven forbid. However, looking at the photos, the unit reviewed appears to have been made in Japan versus the newer models which are made in Taiwan. Portable, all-in one PowerShot and IXUS cameras ranging from expert creative compacts to superzooms and easy point and shoot options.

The one downside is that after using these, my excellent 10x50s now seem WAY too shaky for hand-held use. Missed or late payments will result in fees and additional interest on your loan and can also affect your credit file and your ability to obtain credit in the future. I took a "chance" on the Canon 15X50 IS because of a growing interest in Astronomy and the hope that I could now use a hand-held high power binoc for birding. They have sharp and well corrected optics like larger models, but without UD glass, weather proofing, or continuous IS operation. While sitting in a chair in the yard, when the IS engaged it was plenty steady to really enjoy the view. I've got limited experience for comparisons but the greatest benefit if you have like-for-like lens and build quality is the ability to use the higher magnification without a tripod/monopod. Canon optics produce outstanding 15x magnification, getting you closer to the action while the Image Stabilizer keeps the subject steady.

The Canon would presumably eliminate any heartbeat pulse that can be detectable with the neck tripod when viewing through non IS binos. mp Whether you're an avid birdwatcher, outdoor enthusiast, or just love exploring the details of the world around you, our discounted optics are your perfect companion. Higher magnifications may provide more detail, but they can also make the image shakier due to hand movements. On the second night the bright Moon was out, so for DSOs I have focused on star clusters and skipped comparison with 15x70. More critical focus is an issue when going quickly from near to far, but can be overcome with some tricks.A single-activation button located precisely where the right forefinger naturally rests makes using them easy and allows you to concentrate on viewing without distractions. Where the binos really shined was on the large Cr clusters such as Cr121, Cr132, Cr140, Cr135, Cr70, Cr69, and Hyades.

The weight did start to factor after about an hour of use, but by that time the cold breeze got to me and I was ready to stop. Since my pair of Canons had fresh lithium batteries in it, I tried those in his binocular, and with these batteries it worked perfectly, with no twitching. This also applies to accessories that are supplied with the camera including batteries which may have a lower optimum performance level/life expectancy. Very honestly, until someone here in this forum mentioned that IS artifacts existed, I had never noticed it with my 15x50 IS. At 15x magnification, believe it or not these are not even the most powerful in the range (Canon also make a 18x50 IS binocular), but is still way more power than you could seriously use on a binocular without IS without the need for a tripod.I have written an in-depth review on the main site explaining all about Canon Stabilized Binoculars and just how well they work and have also been lucky enough to be able to review a couple of their binoculars. They provide unique and unachievable by other means observing experience, combining steadiness of mount-stabilized binoculars with complete freedom of hand-hold experience. This is Canons exclusive optical design with two field-flattener lenses, lenses which are normally reserved for high-grade binoculars. Right-eye dioptric correction, twist-up eyecups, and a wide interpupillary adjustment range rounds out the features of these binoculars that will become your go-to optic for any outdoor activity. Interestingly they do come with a built-in tripod adapter and you could use them without the image stabilization feature.
