Angel's Envy was launched in 2011, the brainchild of Wes Henderson, whose father Lincoln was a Master Distiller with Brown-Forman (and credited with creating Woodford Reserve) until his retirement after 40 years. Palate: Tasting reveals more vanilla and maple syrup, along with ripe fruit, toast and bitter chocolate. Angel’s Envy was his first and only independent project, and his masterpiece was unlike anything he'd ever created before.

On the palate, it is wonderfully dry and crisp with delicate summer berry fruits balanced by citrus zest acidity and a deliciously creamy finish. A “straight” bourbon must be aged for at least 2 years, and must have an age statement on the label if it’s aged less than 4 years.An interesting bourbon with a unique twist - after the initial maturation it takes a leaf out of Scotch Whisky's book and spends between 3 and 6 months finishing in port barrels. The combination of the vanilla rich Bourbon combined with the sweet, sticky Port notes is a winning combination. The Port finish provides such depth and richness, but for some I do recognise it is perhaps too sweet and doesn't have enough spicy edge for their liking.
