About this deal

As mentioned in my original post, I am tackling a number of the buildings first for a number of reasons, the main one being that I want to build the railway around the town, rather than the other way round and end up with a compromise, where buildings are slotted in to fit around the railway, not always in a prototypical style (e. I've been relatively quiet at work and had a free evening yesterday (girlfriend was out) so broke out the mounting card, set square, steel rule and knife. The school was eventually opened in 1701 and later moved to better premises across the valley in Newchurch. Paint the slates with watercolours or watered down acrylics, applying numerous very thin washes to avoid 'planking' - where the vertical gap between each slate gets fulled with paint and disappears.

When I scrapped my old layout and began the planning for this, it's replacement, I knew that it would be quite a long project but it is only recently that it has hit home just how long it will take and how much effort. The idea for the layout will be that the railway will be on the level of the station building, with the ground falling away in the direction of the platforms, the lowest point being a road underbridge and river passing under the railway just after the platform ends (the river being the reason for the valley, if you see what I mean).

The Directory of Railway Stations: details every public and private passenger station, halt, platform and stopping place, past and present (1st ed. How and why have different factors been more important than others for individual medical developments? Pupils will explore the origins of the British Empire, and the impact of colonisation on the conquered and the conquerors, as well as the impact of industrialisation on Britain. As such, I've started to build a row to replace the cafe, and these will start to climb the hill rather than remaining level (as the cafe row did for it's full 9 house length). Closed to passengers beyond Bury by BR in 1972, the line to Rawtenstall still functions under the heritage East Lancashire Railway.

Towards the end of the 17th century, land was bequeathed by a certain John Kershaw to endow a school in the Waterfoot area of Rossendale. Peter has received a wealth of positive feedback from members of the Bacup Past and Present group, with two people even writing poems dedicated to him. Bacup is the second largest town in the Rossendale Valley, and arguably the oldest, and has a long and varied history dating back to the Neolithic era. In Year 9, pupils gain a thematic understanding of the development of Britain, through ideas such as fascism and communism, in the Modern Era.We will make comparisons between the different monarchs and ask questions about power and how it is exercised as well as how control works in government. The first serious proposal in the early 1980s, to make the school part of local further education college, was fiercely resisted and finally defeated. The second attempt, in 1985, to recognise along comprehensive lines and amalgamate the school with one of its neighbouring secondary modern schools came too late.

Still a few more to do but it seems to be the best way of ensuring that the columns themselves are vertical and actually reach the platform (or near as dammit), rather than hovering at a jaunty angle. The format of the windows will be the same as the real pub but when you trim mounting card down to a 1mm column (for want of a better word), it's a bit flimsy so I'll use Plastikard. Now this may seem a bit of an odd thing to do (after all, why put all this effort into the track, etc. As such, the station is angled in, which increases the curve from the fiddle yard to platform ends, and the space available for the goods yard is a bit compromised but I have achieved what I wanted. plain sheet, I started to use mounting board for the sub-structures of all the following ones (with the exception of the two by the station, which used off-cuts and leftovers of plastikard).

Alongside this, pupils learn to be historians developing their disciplinary knowledge understanding methods of historical enquiry, how evidence is used to make historical claims and understand why there are different interpretations of the past.
