About this deal

women bravely share un-airbrushed photographs of their breasts alongside honest, courageous, powerful and humorous stories about their breasts and their lives. I guess also that the nature of a project like this relies on volunteers with an interest in the subject, so may not get a full cross-section of women.

Breasts are catalysts for discussing intimate aspects of women’s lives, such as growing up, sexuality, motherhood, breastfeeding, relationships, body image, health, cancer and ageing. There has been so much public debate about breasts recently, from Free the Nipple to No More Page 3, from breastfeeding selfies on Facebook to Rihanna on the red carpet.women bare all, bravely sharing un-airbrushed photographs of their breasts alongside intensely personal stories about their breasts, bodies and lives. They talk about their boobs but really, they are just an extension of these wonderful, warm and funny individuals. A hundred women have bared their breasts and their souls as part of a project to further understanding of how women really feel about their breasts, and how they really look. Each story provides a beautifully tender insight into the diversity of our emotions about our breasts throughout life's stages and experiences. For the first time, 100 brave and beautiful women reveal their bodies and stories on their own terms, talking about how they feel about pleasure, sex, pain, trauma, birth, motherhood, menstruation, menopause, gender, sexuality and simply being a woman.

At the same time, in Western culture they are considered a woman’s single most significant sexual attribute. Intimate, visually refreshing, maybe even surprising, Bare Reality will make you reconsider how you think and feel about your own body, and those of the women in your life.I love how you learn each woman's story through her breasts her development, her response to the culture around her, illness, her sexuality, her children. The Green Transition Weekly analysis of the shift to a new economy from the New Statesman's Spotlight on Policy team. When I first saw Laura Dodsworth's project, Bare Reality - which shares 100 unretouched, anonymous pictures of real women's breasts - I was completely fascinated. We see images of breasts everywhere in the media and yet “real” breasts are taboo, hidden away beneath clothes and bras.

Laura Dodsworth's Kickstarter campaign to finance Bare Reality achieved its funding target within one day and the video accompanying the project was viewed 1.We hope this work will become a powerful force for social change by encouraging more women to speak freely about their breasts and inspiring them to find out more about breast cancer and the wide range of risk factors associated with the disease.
