About this deal

This story has a hopeful ending though as eventually the sisters make it to Israel after the war and start a new life there. Here, where Ema stood, on one side of the fence, was the stench of death, murder and misery, yet ‘on the other side there was life and freedom. But what they will not tell you is it will make you self centred and indeed can make you very uncaring about others.

It was not my favorite of her books but I appreciated that Heather Morris was able to share the sister’s story with her readers. Magda hides, but is eventually discovered, and the three sisters will be reunited in a place where death and horrifying conditions are all around.Heather Morris can do no wrong in my book and I look forward to reading more of her work in the future. It details how Cibi and Livia had to do anything they could to survive, how they were shown moments of kindness, how they’re love for each other kept them going.

Boy oh boy… this was a random pick from the free reads with prime and I’m so elated that I picked this one. Three Sisters is her third novel, and the final piece in the phenomenon that is the Tattooist of Auschwitz series. The story makes clear the feelings of guilt all the survivors felt, in some way or another, for living through what so many did not.

As with the first two books, which I was very moved by, Three Sisters details the harrowing experiences of a family during wartime and beyond. The Slovakian Hlinka Guards had other ideas and soon the family found themselves torn apart by the Nazi collaborators. Through the years they travel from Auschwitz, a death march, and back home to Slovakia, which is now under Communist rule. I remember the sleepovers in my grandparents’ room, and sitting outside in the sunshine eating ice cream, after having walked by the water in the summer sun. I wished for a more sophisticated telling, but other readers might find its simplicity a comfort from the horrors of the story.

The Kennedy sisters, Molly, Alex and Sam, have a Christmas tradition – a night out, just the three of them, sisters together. The book is an honest, powerful, at times hard hitting recollection of what the Meller family went through. A dark and bleak but ultimately life-affirming journey, with hope in the darkest days, a determination to survive and to care for those that you love. This is book about, as the title suggests, three sisters and the man who comes crashing into their lives. Lewis Stone can’t face the work Christmas party, but as he’s one of the bosses, he has to put in an appearance. I really enjoyed this book because it was very different to the others as this was about the bond of three sisters and not giving up on the others, about sticking together no matter what and getting through the war and staying safe.
