The florals seemed out of place to me when I compared the two formulations, and I could easily live without them, but they are well-balanced and give more freshness to the composition. Another vintage that opens all sour like, “ooh, I’m going to hate it,” only to dry down into something soft and beautiful.

I'm surprised not to see any patchouli in it, because to my nose and to my skin, there definitely is a note of patchouli in it. It begins with an almost vintage feel through the interaction of aldehydes, rosewood, bergamot, rose-jasmin, tangerine, mellow fruits, herbs and vetiver. This is a new bottle and I was a kid in the 90s, but I have no problems with the modern reformulation.

I learned the lesson well that the infrequent dose makes it all the more special, and that I should never overindulge its singular trip. It is built of contradictions: aloof, distant, but inviting; somehow cold …and sensual at the same time. Another excellent alternative is the YSL Libre Eau de Parfum is also a floral fragrance with top notes: lavender, mandarin orange, black currant and petitgrain Emporio Armani lei/elle/she/ella also features a cedar and vanilla base, but the top notes are luscious citrus with white floral notes of lily of the valley and jasmine making up the heart. It portrays a landscape where the sun kisses the sea and rays of light gently touch the skin, while the magical ocean breeze brings flowery wafts.
