About this deal

This step is only required if you want an aged/patina effect, but paint gives the Rub n Buff better adhesion and is a good idea for a slick surface. Rub onto clean, dry, or previously painted surfaces or on post-fired ceramics with a finger or soft cloth, then gently buff to a beautiful luster. Makeup brush — Obviously you won’t be using it on your face again, so don’t use your favorite brush! Rub 'n Buff is ideal for restoring cherished antiques, stenciling, frame finishing, antiquing, home decor, restoration and craft projects.

We take intellectual property concerns very seriously, but many of these problems can be resolved directly by the parties involved. You can literally rub it onto a hard surface, and gently buff away the excess wax to create a shiny luster. The attached photos also include more information on the product and pictures of some of the many projects and materials it can be used on. I love that rub n buff matches so well to my antique vibe and depending on how many layers you add on you can create a very antique rustic appearance. In my case, I’m redoing my guest bedroom and wanted to change out some of the black and bronze colors to a beautiful, antique gold.I want to turn a reproduction Louis Philippe mirror into a more realistic looking antique and this helped me narrow it down. I used an old broken spatula to try it on plastic, a yardstick for raw wood, and some spray painted molding for a painted surface. Do you think it work just as well on something that came in a matte black finish, rather than something spray painted black? Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections - they may also appear in recommendations and other places.

The smooth painted wood was by far the easiest to do and looked best when done, the raw wood absorbed it and required more product per coat, and on the plastic I thought it might not stick but once it dried it adhered well. Easy to apply - just rub onto any surface with finger or soft cloth, then buff to a beautiful lustre. The black paint doesn’t have to be perfect or even cover completely, we’re just aiming for a darker base coat. Spanish Copper – Almost like rust, this copper is much closer to bronze and has an aged patina look. However, my main frustration with Rub n Buff is that you really can’t tell the color it will appear based on the packaging.I want to make a mirror that is kind of just a grey/tan plastic wood grain finish look much more silvery (think tiara) and was wondering what would be the best product to use? Unlike paint, Rub n Buff can add dimension for a metallic finish that looks more like real gold, silver, or copper than paint. To reduce the risk of fire, never leave vintage electrical or electronic products plugged in unattended.

TJ that is so weird because I have used it on the metal around the top of the chandeliers I have purchased and on the metal arms. And of course, you’ll need the object you’ll be transforming along with a paper plate, paper towel or any clean surface to blend the Rub ‘n Buff. I was positive this post had no application in my life but now I'm looking around to finds ways to incorporate this! NOTE: Do not use cleaners that contain solvents as these may cause the Rub 'n Buff to disperse into the carpet padding. I have been using antique gold but it is much darker than I want to use on restoring an old chandelier, this blog has enabled me to choose the correct gold for this project, thanks for the info much appreciated!com, the Sell on Etsy app, and the Etsy app, as well as the electricity that powers Etsy’s global offices and employees working remotely from home in the US. Spray primer — Only required for objects that will be handled, or for better adhesion on slick surfaces. I brushed this mirror below with Antique Gold, which is more yellowy and brighter than European Gold. I definitely plan on using Grecian Gold on a wall hook I got at Target that has a faded champagne gold tone, picture frames, drawer pulls, planters, a brass lamp that’s starting to turn dark, a piano / library lamp that has a too-shiny bright yellow gold look to it, and who knows what else I’ll come up with!

Rub ‘n Buff — I purchased this set of five different golds that I’ve tested for you in this post (you can also find them sold individually here). Here on Liz Marie Blog you'll find a little bit of everything form DIY projects, our cute little farm, and our happy little 2 year old son Copeland Beau. It will save me both time and money as I was contemplating all of the golds to do my own comparison before I tackle refinishing two brassy chandeliers. At this point the brush had been sitting overnight with the Rub ‘n Buff dried on (I forgot to wash it out) so it wasn’t going on as smoothly, and even buffing parts of the first layer off.
