About this deal

Once the combo meter is full, you gain additional points and the background changes to a more dynamic visual style. While the idea of Fitness Boxing 2 is pretty simple, I was surprised with just how effective it was at getting my heart rate up and making me feel legitimately tired after a longer session. Fitness Boxing 2 comes packed with about twenty or so tracks, including some original pieces which I actually quite liked, but may not be everyone’s cuppa tea. If you've ever played Dance Dance Revolution (DDR), you know how much of a workout that is (on any other difficulty than easy). I found the uppercut combo regiment to be particularly brutal: a near 15-minute non-stop workout switching between jabs, straights, uppercuts at a breakneck pace.

Fitness Boxing is undeniably simplistic compared to Ring Fit Adventure, but it keeps you engaged with a frenetic pace that constantly switches up what routines are expe Still, the customization options are nice and are a decent reason to keep coming back and provide a sense of progression. Save data also carries over from the previous game, so use all of these features to help keep you going! After your workout is complete, you’re then scored on how accurate your punches were – and that’s more or less it, really. While the stamps might seem like a minor feature, these little things really do help you stay motivated to keep coming back. It didn’t really hit the mainstream, however, until Nintendo released Wii Fit alongside the Wii Fit Balance board in 2007.

There’s still a good fitness game here, but it’s not enough to push anybody that isn’t new to fitness and feels stifled by a lack of more in-depth options around the difficulty. This means simply doing the motion isn’t enough, you’ve got to properly ‘punch’ it at the end to make it register. This just seems to be the result of the JoyCons not being quite as precise as something like a Wii Motion Plus.

Listening to a covered lyric-less version of YMCA for 25 minutes straight would’ve severely impacted my enjoyment.

However, if you played the first one or if you own Ring Fit Adventure, it's incredibly hard to recommend it unless you're really into thirsting over the instructors, all of whom you can still rather creepily dress-up and customise. If you’d rather be able to choose which workout to try out, you may find better luck in Free Training. International products have separate terms, are sold from abroad and may differ from local products, including fit, age ratings, and language of product, labeling or instructions. The latter half of the game's combos (which I've not yet unlocked) are continuing to get harder and faster in their action strings, which is adds more sweatiness and fun. These tracks are catchy enough during the workout to keep you going, and the fact that you can swap tracks between different exercises is a great touch. It’s hard to think of anyone who’d be a big fan of What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction and Venus by Bananarama, but also be well into Born to be Wild by Steppenwolf and It’s My Life by Bon Jovi. praising it for having multiple exercises for various skill levels, but criticized the limited number of musical tracks. Even though I did try Ring Fit Adventure once during an event, I will largely avoid that comparison for lack of time with the game. While you’ve still got some relatively modern tracks (like Hot N Cold by Katy Perry and Alone by Marshmellow), there’s a hefty percentage of older ones here, too. Unfortunately, to the detriment of the experience, you're harshly reminded of the limits of the Switch joycons occasionally as sometimes form with the joycons supersedes realistic movement (at least in my non-boxing opinion).
